This chapter, deals with the following two types of questions : Quicker Method to solve the questions on
(i) Time, Speed and Distance Time, Speed and Distance
(ii) Boat and Stream
v Average speed: The average speed is given by total distance
TIME, SPEED AND DISTANCE divided by total time taken.

Speed: Total Distance


• Average Speed =
Total Time
The distance covered per unit time is called speed. Speed is
directly proportional to distance and inversely to time (d1+ d2+ d3+......dn)
• Distance = speed × time =
