Summary

Running the lesson is one subject that I learn when I was studying English Profession
on Monday, March 4th 2013. I learn some phrases that we can use when sequencing the
lesson, checking progress and stopping the lesson. Besides that, I learn to solve six problems
that given to us in each group.
First, to announce a change of language to the student is important or not, my group
and I agree to announce students in the beginning of the lesson if we will teach in front of the
class by using two different language. It is important because it helps students to understand
the lesson. We can use English if the lesson not very difficult and when the lesson is very
difficult to understanding by our students, we may use students’ language in order to our
student easier to understand that lesson.
Second, it is important to make a link with the previous and in the next lesson, because
it will help students to understand the lesson and it is easier to the student to follow the
lesson. Third, we should spend time to tell the student about the goals of each lesson, because
if our students know about what the purpose of what they are studying, they will easier to
find out the topic that related with the lesson and our students to be more focus on that lesson.
Fourth, if some teachers show or present an outline of the lesson in the beginning of the
class by displayed on the overhead projector, it will helps students to more understand about
the lesson because they not just hear what the teacher talk but also look at the projector about
the main point of the lesson. The lesson that show on the projector may use students’
language and we as a teacher should give explanation by using English because it can
increase their knowledge in the different language and also it can increase their vocabulary.
The fifth problem is how to persuade a shy student to speak English during the class.
There are some methods that we can use to persuade a shy student to speak up during the
class by having private conservation, giving discussion activities, giving speaking task,
giving reward and giving time to speak in front of class, like take turn to tell some story in
front of class in the beginning of the lesson. By those methods, they have enough time to
speak English during the class.
The last problem is what teacher should do when she or he asks a question to their
students and they answer by students’ language. In my opinion, it is not a problem when our
students answer the question by their language if the answer is difficult to say in English but
if it is not my reaction is depend on their level of English and not from the age of students.
