I. TOPIC/SUBJECT MATTER: SOLUTION


SUB-TOPIC : What are solutions do you found at home?
REFERENCES : TG, pages 1 – 2 and LM, pages 1 – 4
TIME ALLOTED : 1 hour

II. LEARNING COMPETENCIES AND OBJECTIVES:


At the end of the lesson, students should be able to:

 Describe the observable characteristics or properties of common solutions found at


home or in stores; and

 Present the data gathered in table to show the different properties of common
solutions.
PROCEDURE
III. ELICIT (5 minutes)
 Before going to the main topic, the teacher will show pictures of the
three phases of matter.
 Ask the student if they can still recall this lesson when they were still in
grade six.

 Ask the students, what is a solution?


IV. ENGAGE (5 minutes)
 The teacher will conduct a simple field trip.
 Group the students (5 members/group)

 Let the students visit local stores in the community.


V. EXPLORE (10 minutes)
 Let the students list the products/solutions found in stores.
 They will describe the characteristics of the listed products in terms of
color, appearance, odor, feel and taste (for food products).

 Let them identify products which are classified as solutions from the list
they had.
VI. EXPLAIN (10 minutes)
 After the given time, each group representatives will share to the class
their gathered data and analysis.

VII. ELABORATE (15 minutes)
 After the presentations, the teacher will ask the students to cite more
examples of solutions, especially solutions that they encounter in their
everyday activity.
 The teacher will then give more examples and follow-up activity
showing solutions.

VIII. EVALUATE ( 13 minutes)


 Discussion, reporting, participation

IX. EXTEND (7 minutes)


 The teacher will require the students to predict what happens when you
mix a sample of solid or liquid in a given volume of water.
 Let them investigate to find out if their predictions are correct.
