Training Opportunities
Georgetown And Linden Schools Of Nursing
1. 1.Professional Nurse Training
2. 2.Nursing Assistant Training
Applicants are invited from suitably qualified persons who are interested in being trained as Professional Nurses, and Nursing Assistants.

Commencement date 13th March 2017


Classes will be held from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm from Monday to Friday in Linden and New Amsterdam.
In the case of Georgetown School of Nursing two options are available:
1. Day release 7:30 am to 3:30 pm or
2. Evening release 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm
Training for the Professional Nurse will be of three (3) years duration while the Nursing Assistant will be eighteen (18) months respectfully. Only persons between the ages
of sixteen (16) and thirty-five (35) are eligible to apply.
Before admission to the programmes, persons must be passed as physically fit and will be required to enter into a contractual agreement to serve the Government of
Guyana for a period of not less than five (5) years for the Professional Nursing Programme and not less than three (3) years for the Nursing Assistant Programme.
The applicants are also required to be in possession of a Valid Guyana Passport.
Successful applicants will receive a stipend of fifteen thousand ($15,000.00) dollars per month and a ration allowance of one thousand eight hundred and ten dollars
($1,810) per month throughout the duration of the course.
1. The minimum entry level requirement for the Professional Nursing Programme are as follows:
A minimum of five (5) subjects at CXC General Proficiency Grades 1 or 2 acquired before, 1998 or Grades 1, 2, and 3, acquired from June, 1998 inclusive of English
Language, Mathematics and at least one science subject
OR
A minimum of 5 CXC Basic Passes at the Basic Proficiency Grade 1 inclusive of English Language, Mathematics and at least one science subject
OR
A minimum of 5 GCE Ordinary Levels Grades A, B or C inclusive of English Language, Mathematics and at least one science subject
OR
Midwives or Nursing Assistants who have demonstrated sound professional skills and have demonstrated that they have upgraded their initial entry level qualifications
1. Entry requirement for the Nursing Assistant Programme shall be:
A minimum of three (3) CXC passes General Proficiency – Grades 1 or 2 acquired before, 1998 or Grades 1, 2, 3 acquired from June 1998. Inclusive of English
Language
OR
A minimum of 3 CXC Passes Basic Proficiency Grade 1 inclusive of English Language
OR
A minimum of 3 GCE ‘O’ Level Grade A, B, C inclusive of English Language

Kingston Georgetown, or at Ministry of Public Health website www.health.gov.gy

Closing date for applications is 6th February 2017 (Applications submitted after the closing date will not be accepted.
