Exhibit Trends
The Metal Cutting & Die Mold Working Pavilion featured equipment
and solutions for processing complex shapes and hard-to-cut materials,
optimizing the production process by grafting IT convergence
technologies as well as smart solutions and programs.
The Parts, Materials & Motion Controls Pavilion drew the attention of
visitors with products and solutions for energy-saving, high-speed,
high-precision machinery.
The Press & Metal Forming Pavilion showcased the latest trends in hot-
stamping and servo presses.
Exhibit Trends
A large number of machine tools and solutions that reflect this trend were exhibited
in the Metal Cutting & Die Mold Working Pavilion at SIMTOS2014. They
reflected the evolution to smarter production processes by converging or
combining software and data communications based on IT technologies in order to
realize more efficient processing environments. Oil and raw material price hikes,
manpower shortages, diversification of customer needs, and environmental
pollution issues, including global warming, are coming to the fore as new
challenges.
Furthermore, the fact that efforts to graft the latest mobile and IT convergence
technologies with machine tools appeared remarkably can be cited as a new
trend as well. In other words, solutions facilitating design, maintenance & repair,
consulting, and post-management work in real-time through linkage of smart
devices and machine tools were exhibited on a large scale.
Exhibit Trends
Amid the move to upgrade the automobile industry and expand exports of
IT & electronics products by increasing the competitiveness of domestic
parts & materials, the direction of the parts & materials industry is toward
R&D focused on energy saving, eco-friendliness and high productivity.
Reflecting this trend, a large number of core parts & materials for operation
of complete machines, motion controllers supporting establishment and
operation of manufacturing facilities and systems, and key parts & materials
improving machine tool functions were exhibited in the Parts, Materials &
Motion Controls Pavilion at SIMTOS2014.
In the Parts, Materials & Motion Controls Pavilion, machine tool holder
parts (chuck, fixing center, clamp, vice), hydraulic & pneumatic parts
(cylinder, hydraulic & pneumatic devices), peripheral equipment like
coolers, coolants, filters, nuts, couplings, power locks, spindles, motion
control devices and parts to increase the efficiency of complete machines
were exhibited by 234 companies from 15 countries in Halls 1~5
(53.541m2) of KINTEX 1 Exhibition Center on a scale of 868 booths.
Exhibit Trends
The Tools & Related Equipment Pavilion consisted of 694 booths with
exhibits by 160 companies from 15 countries.
Exhibit Trends
The main trends in manufacturing technology are for high efficiency and
enhanced work convenience. The CAD/CAM, Measuring Systems, Automation &
Robotics Pavilion at SIMTOS2014 debuted CAD/CAM solutions and automation
systems for machine tools, state-of-the-art software facilitating convergence
between related industries and cutting-edge robots to increase automation,
together with precision control-related new technologies.
The interest of buyers and visitors in 3D printing, in particular, was very hot. 3D
printing, which converts diverse materials, such as metal, rubber and plastic into
three-dimensional structures in accordance with 3D drawings, received praise as
a promising technology to drive a new revolution in manufacturing, as its
application scope is not only wide-ranging but it also can materialize ideas
immediately just from drawings.
Exhibit Trends
Amid this trend, metal cutting equipment using different cutting methods,
including a wide variety of saw machines, milling machines for cutting,
water jet cutting machines and laser cutting machines, were exhibited in
the Cutting-Off & Welding Pavilion at SIMTOS2014.
Especially, laser machines with 'high output,' 'fiber laser' and 'complex
function' as keywords emerged on a large scale, engaging in fierce
competition.
Amid the emergence of fiber lasers and disk lasers and their mounting onto
high-output laser machines starting several years ago, all large domestic
companies exhibited fiber laser machines among their mainstay product
groups.
