TG2A Phileas Fogg workshop On the 29th of March, we had our Phileas Fogg workshop with our class. The Phileas Fogg Theatre Company is a company that gives interactive English theatre workshops and performances, where all students play a part. We did the Drama Workshop. I think is was a good workshop because we learned very much. The things we learned were: The practice of spoken English with native speakers The use and application of colloquial English Improvement of presentation skills Confidence building The understanding and appreciation of team building The development of speaking and listening skills Exploring emotions and solving problems, by working together Interactive drama, we learned to act and experience theatre skills During the Phileas Fogg workshop, there were two persons from England to help us. Their names were Peter and Emma. They facilitated the workshop. We first had to play cars. We had to make the noises of a car and run around in the auditorium. After that we did some exercise in which you had to make pairs. One of the two had to put on a blindfold and the other one had to guide you around without touching other pairs. After that we did a group exercise with the blindfold. One classmate had to put on a blindfold and the rest of the class had to stand in a circle. The person with the blindfold had to walk around, but if the person was walking towards a person in the circle, that person had to turn the person with the blindfold again. This exercises were about trusting each other. After that, we had another exercise. In that exercise, the class was divided in groups. Each group got a card on which a random word was standing. With that word, you needed to make an advertisement. We got five minutes to make one, after which we had to show it to the rest of the class. As last we had an exercise with whole of our class. We had to stand in line as quickly as possible, from largest to smallest person. After that we did the same a few times again, but then with house numbers and birthdays. The communication with the two persons form England went very well. I could understand them very good. I thought that the experience was a good idea. I have improved my presentation skills and I have learned that things work better by working together. Peter and Emma, the two people from Phileas Fogg, taught us very enthusiastically and full of humour.
