INTRODUCTION RE4RO1A This new Nissan transmission is a fully computerized 4 speed automatic overdrive unit. It is currently found in the 240SX and Path Finder vehicles. We have included some of the basic self diagnosing information. We thank Nissan motor company for the illustrations and infor- mation that make this booklet possible. ROBERT D. The control unit then energizes a solenoid valve, retracting its plunger, thus draining pilot pressure via the shuttle shift valve from one end of the lock-up control valve, The control valve then moves, draining torque converter pressure from the rear side of the lock-up piston. Shift Solenoid Operation The shift solenoid performs 2 simple on/off function. When energized (on), its plunger protrudes blocking the drain on the pilot pressure line. When de-energized (off), the plunger retracts opening the drain on the pilot pressure line. Shift Valves A and B Operation Pilot pressure, when applied to the shift valve due to the operation of a solenoid valve, acts on the end of the shift valve, overcomes the opposing spring pressure at the other end and the valve moves. u AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SERVICE GROUP B ATSG Technical Service Information Electrical Control Chart = Erctcl sing vance sna! > Horne preseure — h — es Cara N Overdrive off switch T Sa indicator lamp] Fa BY | cone spat Tae swtes |!
