Section: C

Semester: 8th
Task:

Question: Design and implement a group of networks (at least 10) connected with each other.
Use 192.168.1.0 as first three octets for serial port addresses, use subnet mask 255.255.255.252.
At least 2 networks must assign addresses dynamically to the connected computers. One network
should have 3 VLANs which are connected to router using single port. These VLANs should be
able to communicate with each other as well. Moreover, computers in all these networks must be
able to reach these websites. “www.google.com”, “www.hitecuni.com.pk” and “www.ccn.com”.

Deliverables:

 Labeled Diagram (Addresses, Networks, Names)

 Names and purpose of Devices used
 Connected and working network.

Tool Required:

 Cisco packet Tracer Software

 PC

Working:

Initially construct the following diagram according to the requirement. We used PCs, switch,
servers. Connect all these devices with each other.

We configured the PCs with different IP addresses. IP addresses of eight (8) PCs are static and
remaining two (2) PCs are dynamic according to requirement. We are using 3 servers

1. DHCP Server
2. DNS Server
3. Web Server

1. DHCP Server:
The Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) is a standardized network protocol
used on Internet Protocol (IP) networks for dynamically distributing network
configuration parameters, such as IP addresses for interfaces and services. With DHCP,
computers request IP addresses and networking parameters automatically from a DHCP
server, reducing the need for a network administrator or a user to configure these settings
manually.

2. DNS Server:
When you enter a URL into your Web browser, your DNS server uses its resources to
resolve the name into the IP address for the appropriate Web server. See more computer
networking pictures. If you've ever used the Internet, it's a good bet that you've used the
Domain Name System, or DNS, even without realizing it.

3. Web Server:
A Web server is a program that, using the client/server model and the World Wide Web's
Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP), serves the files that form Web pages to Web users
(whose computers contain HTTP clients that forward their requests). A name server is a
computer hardware or software server that implements a network service for providing
responses to queries against a directory service. It translates an often humanly-
meaningful, text-based identifier to a system internal, often numeric identification or
addressing component. This service is performed by the server in response to a service
protocol request.

Step by step working of network is given below:

 First of all we construct the network diagram and then assigned the different IP
Addresses to PCs and all servers. Eight (8) Networks are configured with static IP
addresses and remaining two (2) networks with dynamic IP addresses.
 Ping all the Pcs with each other and access the different webpages from different
PCs.

Conclusion:

After performing this open ended lab we have learn to make the serial networking
of the routers ,assigning them the Gateways and Ips.We also learnt to use DNS and
DHCP servers and made VLAN for few networks which can’t be assessed from the
others PC’s.Moreover we have learnt to access three website domains from the
PCs other than those which are connected to the VLAN network.
