Robert De Niro's Anti-Trump Tirade is absurd
Greg Gutfeld reacted to several recent profane criticisms of President Trump by actor
Robert De Niro. Gutfeld joked that an "elderly, confused man went missing in New York"
and was later given dress clothes and a stage at Radio City.
At the Tony Awards over the weekend, De Niro took the stage at Radio City and called
out "F*** Trump."
Gutfeld said the 74-year-old pumped his fists like he was "pushing a two-pound weight in
a Jenny Craig commercial" after speaking the obscenity.
"What a sad end for a great actor," he said, noting that he effectively got his start in
"Raging Bull" and more recently was featured in "Dirty Grandpa."
After the awards show, De Niro traveled to Toronto, Ontario and publicly apologized to
the Canadian people for "the idiotic behavior of my president." He also extended
condolences to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, after Trump criticized the Canadian leader
on Twitter.
"Nobody's talking to you anymore," Gutfeld said on De Niro, paraphrasing one of the
actor's most famous lines.
De Niro previously called Trump a "dog" and a "bulls*** artist" while threatening to
physically assault him.
Pompeii victim crushed by boulder while
fleeing eruption
Archaeologists at Pompeii have uncovered the remains of an unfortunate
man who was decapitated by an enormous rock while fleeing the volcano.
Nearby Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79 AD, killing many Pompeii residents and
famously freezing them in place. This skeleton appears to be from a man who
survived the initial explosion and was fleeing the doomed city.
A leg injury, however, may have slowed him down before he was crushed by
the huge stone hurtling through the air.
Pompeii archaeologists say the skeleton shows signs of a bone infection in his
leg, which could have made walking
- much less running - very difficult.
But it was not slow-moving molten
lava that killed most of the people of
Pompeii. Instead, a vast cloud of hot
gas and fragments - called a
pyroclastic flow - surged over the
city, killing its inhabitants wherever
they were, and burying them in ash,
preserving their final moment.
Archaeologists believe it was this lethal cloud which struck their newest
discovery, throwing him backwards as he turned to look at it.
The man, believed to be in his 30s, was found on the first floor of a building,
above the layer of small stones carried by the cloud.
But the force of the erupting gas and rock also picked up an enormous rock -
which experts think might have been a door jamb (the vertical part of a door
frame) - and hurled it at the victim, crushing his upper body near the throat and
possibly removing his head, which is missing.
Archaeologist Massimo Osanna said the skeleton was an "exceptional find".
Apart from the "emotional impact" of these discoveries, they allow
archaeologists to study the people of the city, and even how they tried to escape
the eruption of Vesuvius.
This latest discovery is part of fresh excavations in Pompeii undertaken using
modern technology.

US woman missing after Bands of 30A June charity

'alligator attack'
A dog-walker in the US state of Florida has
gone missing, and she was attacked by an
alligator, a witness told police.
The 911 caller said the reptile dragged the woman
into a lake in the town of Davie, 25 miles (40km)
north of Miami.
Local media report officers found a dog on a
leash but no signs of the woman at Silver Lakes
Rotary Nature Park.
State wildlife

the alligator.
The woman has
yet to be
identified.
"Divers are
searching," Davie Police Maj Dale Engle was
quoted as saying. "Her dogs won't leave the pond.
One of her dogs got bit by the gator." Neighbors
told local media that they have seen children
swimming in the lakes.
"I saw the gator yesterday, it responds in a natural
way. "It's sad to hear someone got hit by the
gator." The reptiles are "opportunistic feeders"
that live in all of the state's 67 counties, according
to Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation
Commission website.
It is not uncommon for alligators to be removed
from householders' swimming pools, but their
attacks on people are rare.

This event marks the fourth concert put on by the
Bands of 30A, an organization designed to bring
local musicians together to support meaningful
charities. Bands of 30A has chosen Westonwood
Ranch as the beneficiary to this concert.
Westonwood Ranch offers a unique learning
curriculum to improve life skills and vocational
skills to young adults with Autism Spectrum
Disorder (ASD).
The concert lineup begins with TK and Duke
Bardwell featuring Mark Gillespie at 4 p.m.,
followed by Max McCann Band at 5 p.m., A
Songwriters Round with Q’werty, Mel Knapp,
and David Chastang at 6 p.m. Spanish Fly starts
at 7 p.m. and Forrest Williams Band closes the
concert out at 8 p.m.
Seagrove Beach Catering will have dinner plates
available for purchase, 30A has provided wine
and Grayton Beer Company will serve their ice
cold brew. Shore Thing Cigars will be set up on
site, perfect for Father’s Day weekend. Donations
from area businesses including a fishing charter, a
bonfire and more have been given as raffle items
to help raise money for Westonwood Ranch.
Concertgoers are asked to make a $10 donation to
enjoy the entire evening of music. Kids under 12
are free. Donations may be made at the event or
ahead of time on www.Bandsof30A.com.
Event is open to the public and family friendly.
Guests who purchase an official Bands of 30A
cup from the donation table can take advantage of
discounted drink prices.
In its first three charity concerts in September and
December 2017 and March 2018, Bands of 30A

Summer is here, and the city pool has been very busy, if you have not
had the opportunity please drop by and see all the upgrades to the
pool area, information on the fee rates and times of operation are on
the city website and the Freeport Parks and Recreation Facebook
Page.
The city council voted at the last meeting to reduce the number of
required board members to be present at the Planning Board Meetings
to have a quorum. They also directed the city attorney to construct a
Developer Maintenance Agreement for water/sewer addressing
developer maintenance/city maintenance. The city council also voted
to go ahead with the Forensic Audit Letter of Engagement with the
company Marcum LLP and The Welcome to Freeport Signs have
been approved and will be erected in the very near future as the
engineering department is finalizing the requirements.
The columns in the triangle/fountain have been removed and a public
workshop is scheduled for 6:00 PM on Tuesday June 12, for ideas and
discussion on how to move forward with the project and the public is
certainly invited to voice their opinions and there will also be a
meeting at that time to discuss the Branding of Freeport and to review
some options that have been presented.
A joint meeting with the County Commissioners, the City of
DeFuniak Springs and the City of Freeport will be held on this
Wednesday June 13th at 9:00 am for discussion of the corridor
infrastructure along highway 331.
The Heritage Museum has been open each week, but additional
volunteers are needed to operate Thursday, Friday and Saturday,
please give city hall a call and speak with Barbara Moore to sign up as
a volunteer. The Summer Break Spot Program for Kids and Teens is
being held at the Freeport Elementary School, FREE nutritious meals
are available to kids and teens and under 18 during the summer break.
Lunch is served from 10:30-12:00 and snacks from 12:00 (noon)-
1:00 – drop by if you are in need for a nutritious meal.
The Okaloosa/Walton Council on Aging is working on a program for
seniors in our area to bring information to them on subjects that may
be of interest, we will keep you posted as things develop.
The city elections are one month away, please exercise your right to
vote on July 10th.

Has Inherited Syndrome
Looking back, melanoma and thyroid cancer survivor Kristin Anthony can
spot the symptoms of Cowden disease she had as a child. They included
growths in several places on her body, a larger than average head size, and
frequent respiratory infections. Cowden disease is a type of PTEN hamar-
toma tumor syndrome (PHTS) caused by a mutation in the PTEN gene.
PHTS raises the risk of developing certain types of cancer, including skin,
thyroid, breast, endometrial, colorectal, and kidney. The gene mutation is
inherited. People who know they have the syndrome, which can be detected
through a blood test, may choose to get extra screenings that can find cancer
earlier, when it’s less likely to have spread and more likely easier to treat. As
she entered her 30s, Anthony began to find lumps in her breasts, which led
to many mammograms, call-backs, and biopsies. She began to worry she
was following in the footsteps of her mother, who had twice survived breast
cancer, first in one breast, then the other. Then, in 2010 at age 36, Anthony
was diagnosed with thyroid cancer and was successfully treated with sur-
gery. “I had a heart tug and thought, ‘This is not the end of this,’” she said.
“I started asking questions.” Anthony began searching on the internet for a

PUBLIC NOTICE
The Walton County Environmental Department will be hosting the Third (Final) Coastal
Dune Lakes Environmental Assessment Stakeholders meeting on Wednesday, June 20, 2018
from 1:00-3:00 PM at the District Five Commissioner’s Meeting Room, 70 Logan Lane in
Santa Rosa Beach, Florida.
The Coastal Dune Lakes (CDL) provide the County and its residents a unique environmental
resource for recreational and residential activities. The County seeks to carefully balance
human activities with impacts to the CDLs. The consulting team of Jones Edmunds &
Associates, Inc., Janicki Environmental, Inc., and Frydenborg Ecologic, LLC have conducted
a study of potential human impacts on CDL ecosystems. The study examines and reports on
the degree of current impact to the CDLs and how future land use changes could impact the
lakes. This will be the third of three stakeholder meetings to be held as part of the study.
The stakeholder meetings are intended to share project findings and solicit feedback from
stakeholders.
Two or more Walton County Commissioners may attend.
These meetings are open to the public.
In accordance with Section 286.26, Florida Statutes, whenever any board or commissioner of
any state agency or authority, or of any agency or authority of any county, municipal
corporation, or other political subdivision, which has scheduled a meeting at which official

‘Happenings’ in DeFuniak Springs

PROGRAM CLASSES
FREE TO PUBLIC
WHAT IS THE DIABETES
PREVENTION PROGRAM?
The Prevent T2 program is a CDC-
recognized research-based lifestyle change
program that helps individuals with
prediabetes prevent or delay type 2 diabetes.
In our classes we focus on providing the
tools and information to help our
participants lose weight and become more
active. It is not a “quick fix” class or a fad
diet, but truly a lifestyle change. The CDC
has found that prediabetes can often be
reversed through proper nutrition and
activity. In addition, the program also helps
lower the risk of heart attack and stroke,
improves overall health, and helps
participants to feel more energetic.
Our program lasts for one year with weekly
classes during the first 6 months and then
tapers off to monthly over the last 6 months.
(We work around holidays/inclement
weather.) Our classes teach participants how
to eat healthy without giving up their
favorite foods, how to find time for physical
activity, how to manage stress, and how to
cope with challenges.
The CDC has conducted research which
shows that people who participate in a
structured lifestyle change program can cut
the risk of developing type 2 diabetes by
58% or 71% for those over the age of 60!
Florida Department of Health in Walton
County is currently hosting DPP classes
twice a year beginning January and June.
At this time, the classes are free and open
to the public.
ELIGIBILITY
Our participants must meet the following
criteria to be eligible:

than 24 (or greater than 22 for Asian
ethnicity) / Have no previous diagnoses of
either type 1 or type 2 diabetes/ Have a
blood test result in the prediabetes range
within the last year (either Hemoglobin

A man was arrested on drug charges after police pulled him
over because his window tint was too dark.
According to a report from the Walton County Sheriff’s
Office, on May 27 a deputy spotted a truck with windows

off into long stories unless asked to. Speak in courteous tones and try not to complain or criticize too much unless you really
need to. Try to accept situations as they are. Everyone is going through the same things, and people have a low tolerance for
hearing complaints. Always find some good things to say as well.
16. Pain and discomfort go hand in hand with getting older. Try not to dwell on them but accept them as a part of the cycle of
life we’re all going through. Try to minimize them in your mind. They are not who you are, they are something that life added
to you. If they become your entire focus, you lose sight of the person you used to be.
17. If you’ve been offended by someone – forgive them. If you’ve offended someone - apologize. Don’t drag around re-
sentment with you. It only serves to make you sad and bitter. It doesn’t matter who was right. Someone once said: “Holding a
grudge is like taking poison and expecting the other person to die.” Don’t take that poison. Forgive, forget and move on with
your life.
18. If you have a strong belief, savor it. But don’t waste your time trying to convince others. They will make their own choices
no matter what you tell them, and it will only bring you frustration. Live your faith and set an example. Live true to your beliefs
and let that memory sway them.
19. Laugh. Laugh A LOT. Laugh at everything. Remember, you are one of the lucky ones. You managed to have a life, a long
one. Many never get to this age, never get to experience a full life. But you did. So what’s not to laugh about? Find the humor in
your situation.
20. Take no notice of what others say about you and even less notice of what they might be thinking. They’ll do it anyway, and
you should have pride in yourself and what you’ve achieved. Let them talk and don’t worry. They have no idea about your
history, your memories and the life you’ve lived so far. There’s still much to be written, so get busy writing and don’t waste
time thinking about what others might think. Now is the time to be at rest, at peace and as happy as you can be!

HEALTH OFFICIALS ISSUE RABIES ALERT-2ND FOX TEST POSITIVE
– The Florida Department of Health in Walton County (DOH-Walton) issued a rabies
alert for the Freeport area. This is in response to a fox that tested positive on May 31,
2018. A second fox has tested positive on June 12,2018.
All residents and visitors in Walton County should be aware that rabies is present in
the wild animal population and domestic animals are at risk if not vaccinated. The
public is asked to maintain a heightened awareness that rabies is active in Walton
County. Alerts are designed to increase awareness to the public.
Please be aware that rabies activities can also occur outside the alert area.
This rabies alert is for 60 days. The center of the rabies alert is east of Freeport and
includes the following boundaries in Walton County:
· Windswept Dunes Subdivision
· JW Hollington Road area
An animal with rabies could infect domestic animals that have not been vaccinated
against rabies. All domestic animals should be vaccinated against rabies and all
wildlife contact should be avoided, particularly raccoons, bats, foxes, skunks, otters,
bobcats, and coyotes. Rabies is a disease of the nervous system and is fatal to warm
blooded animals and humans. The only treatment for human exposure to rabies is
rabies specific immune globulin and rabies immunization. Appropriate treatment
started soon after the exposure will protect an exposed person from the disease.
Residents and visitors are advised to take the following precautions:
Keep rabies vaccinations up to date for all pets and at-risk livestock.
Do not allow your pets to run free. Follow leash laws by keeping pets and livestock
secured on your property. If your pet or livestock are bitten by a wild animal, seek
veterinary assistance for the animal immediately and contact Walton Animal Services
at 850-892-8682.
Support animal control in efforts to reduce feral and stray animal populations.
Spay or neuter your pets to help reduce the number of unwanted pets that may not
be properly cared for or regularly vaccinated.
Do not handle, feed, or unintentionally attract wild animals with outdoor food
sources such as uncovered trash or litter.
Never adopt wild animals or bring them into your home.
Teach children never to handle unfamiliar animals, wild or domestic, even if they
appear friendly.
Prevent bats from entering living quarters or occupied spaces in homes, churches,
schools, and other similar areas, where they might come in contact with people and
pets.
Persons who have been bitten or scratched by wild or domestic animals should seek
medical attention and report the injury to the DOH- Walton at 850-892-8021.

Rosenstein threatened to 'subpoena' GOP-
led committee in 'chilling' clash over records, emails show
Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein threatened to “subpoena” emails, phone
records and other documents from lawmakers and staff on a Republican-led House
committee during a tense meeting earlier this year, according to emails reviewed by
Fox News documenting the encounter and reflecting what aides described as a
"personal attack."
The emails memorialized a January 2018 closed-door meeting involving senior FBI
and Justice Department officials as well as members of the House Intelligence
Committee. The account claimed Rosenstein threatened to turn the tables on the
committee's inquiries regarding the Russia probe.
“The DAG [Deputy Attorney General Rosenstein] criticized the Committee for
sending our requests in writing and was further critical of the Committee’s request to
have DOJ/FBI do the same when responding,” the committee's then-senior counsel
for counterterrorism Kash Patel wrote to the House Office of General Counsel.
“Going so far as to say that if the Committee likes being litigators, then ‘we [DOJ]
too [are] litigators, and we will subpoena your records and your emails,’ referring to
HPSCI [House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence] and Congress overall.”
A second House committee staffer at the meeting backed up Patel’s account, writing:
“Let me just add that watching the Deputy Attorney General launch a sustained
personal attack against a congressional staffer in retaliation for vigorous oversight
was astonishing and disheartening. ... Also, having the nation’s #1 (for these matters)
law enforcement officer threaten to 'subpoena your calls and emails' was downright
chilling.”
The committee staffer noted that Rosenstein’s comment could be interpreted as
meaning the department would “vigorously defend a contempt action" -- which might
be expected. But the staffer continued, "I also read it as a not-so-veiled threat to
unleash the full prosecutorial power of the state against us.”
