It is a challenge
to teach about the
oceans to students
living on flat plains
in the middle of a
country, especially
if they have not had
the opportunity to
travel to a coastline.
You might try to
have them imagine
a familiar lake as if it went on for hundreds and hun-
dreds of miles to the right and left and straight
across.
In the same way, Jesus used parables -- as if sto-
ries -- to help people understand the ways of God.
Preachers are challenged to do that every Sunday.
Each of us is also challenged to come up with our
own as if stories to share our faith with family and
friends. It is possible we might appreciate the Sun-
day preaching more when we try to do it ourselves.

You’re welcome to come to a Wednesday night
practice at 7 p.m. and see what its all about. This di-
verse group is a great bunch and they have fun to-
gether. So DON’T just think about it, ACT on it!

Father’s Day Prayer
God our Father:
We give you thanks and praise for fathers young and
old.
We pray for young fathers, newly embracing their
vocation; may they find courage and perseverance
to balance work, family, and faith in joy and sacrifice.
We pray for our own fathers around the world whose
children are lost or suffering; may they know that the
God of compassion walks with them in their sorrow.
We pray for men who are not fathers but still mentor
and guide us with fatherly love and advice.
We remember fathers, grandfathers, and great-
grandfathers who are no longer with us but who live
forever in our memory and nourish us with their love.
Amen.

Make a donation in honor of someone. In Honor Of

special occasions and holidays. For that hard to buy
for someone, or grandma & grandpa who may not
need anything, you can honor them by making a do-
nation in their name to the Building Fund. The do-nor
receives a tax receipt for their donation and the indi-
vidual receives a card informing him or her of the do-
