Education in history is one of the most important factors that we examine through our

studies of being historians. It allows us to examine past experiences and reassure that history

doesn’t repeat itself. What I have learned from my ancient ancestors is their education was a

priority to themselves and their success of their learning is how they achieved such great

accomplishments.

Siddhartha Guatama was a teacher of religion and with the education and enlightenment

that he received allowed him to influence those around him. Achieving the name Buddha which

means teacher, gained the respect and acknowledgement to practice his ideas and provide a sense

of knowledge to those who wished to learn. Buddha would teach the four noble truths which is

the central beliefs of following Buddhism (6:30). Buddha’s teachings allows people to recognize

that his path in education is what brought him to his enlightenment and achievements. Education

in religion is important because we must recognize their differences and respect the people and

who they follow as well on how their religions originated. “Broadening our humanity and

extending our sensibilities by recognizing sameness and difference throughout the recorded past

is therefore an important reason for studying history” (Mcneill).

Alexander the Great received an education in his early years of life. He would have been

tutored by the famous Aristotle. Alexander would gain much knowledge in many different areas.

He would learn about medicine, Philosophy, morals, religion, logic, and art (wikipedia).

Alexander was very successful in his time of reign concurring most of Asia minor and the

massive empire of Persia. If Alexander never received the etiquette education from his teacher

Aristotle, then there's a chance that Alexander would have never prospered as much as he did.

His education allowed him to think past his enemies and out play them. Alexander’s

Understanding of how the other civilizations worked for instance Persia, gave him the
opportunity to seize their power. Alexander’s road to conquest was not peaceful, but the

education is what helped him achieve the power which brought upon peace for many years after

ruling all these empires. Education is the most important objective everybody goes through, you

live and you learn. Keeping the world educated is what brings peace to understand why all these

civilizations practice their beliefs and the way their societies continue to strive. “History provides

us with a format to develop the meaningful interpretations necessary to examine the events that

shape modern society” (Postma).

Jesus Christ was a teacher and brought the knowledge of religion for all the people to

follow which makes it the world religion it is today. He brought many people together that had

nothing to follow or live for, and taught them the practice of christianity. With Jesus’s education

and political ideas he was able to bring societies together that perceived totally different views of

religion. His education brought upon a betterment to the society allowing the people to change

who they were and follow a different path of enlightenment. Which causing an uprising the

romans despised his thoughts and crucified him (5:18). Jesus’s thoughts and beliefs are still

heavily practiced to this day and still educates anybody who wishes to believe the christian

morals. The thought that Jesus is the one who educated us all is important in the fact that having

good knowledge will bring conflict and your thoughts are the one to resolve them, making it the

most powerful tool to mankind. “ history matters as a means by which a people can be bound

together in ways which keep them true to the best developments time has had to offer, even

while individual tweaks can be made along the way” (Hodges).

Your brain is the most powerful weapon in your arsenal. The way these three individuals

used their knowledge to create an impact on society and influenced culture today is what makes

them so remarkable in their progress through history. If they had not taken dedication to the
spread of education or the practice of it, then it's possible their legacy’s could have ended

differently or not as influential. It makes you reflect the pride people put towards their education

and how seriously it is taken. Education has always been important to me and the study of

history. To understand how the world the way it is today and how people treat each other

requires you to know history. If we didn’t take our time to analyze past experiences and learn off

them history would always repeat itself. Which is why it’s important to utilize one’s education

and to live off mistakes that another one has made and to create new paths that are ready to be

recorded.
