DOMAIN F LITERATURE REVIEW

Abstract

This literature review describes the two artifacts in my Professional Development Quest

Portfolio (PDQP) in Domain F. Domain F focuses on “Developing As a Professional Educator”

(Commission on Teacher Credentialing, "California Teaching Performance Expectations", 2013,

p. 17). The first artifact is a simple resume with my education and qualifications. The second

artifact is proof of mandated reporter course I completed. The third artifact is a five-year plan

timeline. I have discussed the rationale of using these specific artifacts in my PDQP.

TPE Domain F Artifact Literature Review

According to Constantino and Lorenzo (2009) “Using national or state standards when

developing a portfolio provides credibility to the documentation” (p.11). I will be using the

California Teaching Performance Expectations as a guide to populate my PDQP. The California

TPE Domain F is “Developing As a Professional Educator” (Commission on Teacher

Credentialing, "California Teaching Performance Expectations", 2013, p. 2). My PDQP can be

found at: https://rodamer-pdqp.weebly.com/

Artifact 1

My first artifact is a simple resume I created. The resume includes my educational

background as a student and the degrees that I have earned. The artifact also includes my

relevant work experience as a teacher and substitute teacher. This artifact demonstrates my

academic success and qualifications to obtain a teaching position. This would be beneficial to

prospective employers.

Artifact 2

Artifact 2 is a certification from a Mandated Reported course that I completed for the

2017-2018 school year. This artifact demonstrates how I take my legal obligations seriously.

According to the California Teaching Commission (2013) “Candidates understand and honor

legal and professional obligations to protect the privacy, health, and safety of students, families,

and other school professionals. They are aware of and act in accordance with ethical

considerations and they model ethical behaviors for students” (p.17).

DOMAIN F LITERATURE REVIEW

I unfortunately had to make my first mandated report this past school year. Its not

something I want to have to do again, but I will if the situation arises again I will make the

report.

Artifact 3

My third artifact is a five-year timeline of my professional goals of professional growth.

The artifact also includes a paper to explain my timeline and goals. My timeline goals include

finishing my credential and master’s in education through National University, getting a

classroom of my own, and completing my districts two-year induction program. These specific

goals are a bit more short term, but very important to starting my career as an educator. My other

goals will take me closer to the five-year mark to complete. These goals include completing

GLAD training, becoming a Google Educator, and finish completing a total of 75 graduate level

units. I will need to find more courses to take that will interest me once I am in the classroom to

determine what classes I will take. I would love to learn the basics of coding, a skill that I can

pass on to my students. At the end of my five-year goal timeline, I would ultimately love to get a

cleared credential. This artifact demonstrated my determination to continue my education and

pursuit of always learning something new. It is important for teachers to continue learning and

continue professional growth over time.
