PHYSICAL SECURITY

1. Perimeter Security
SITUATION AS SURVEYED

 A concrete wall delineates the rear portion of the hotel from the residential houses.
 Top guard is also installed on top of this concrete barrier.
 Cyclone fence with top guard protects the staff house and nursery area from the outside. During
the survey it was observed that some of the cyclone fences are already destroyed.
 Concrete barrier is more than eight feet high and is in good repair.

Recommendation/s:

 Fences near the nursery must be immediately repaired


2. PERIMETER LIGHTS
SITUATION AS SURVEYED

 The perimeter is well lighted.


 However illumination is not sufficient to detect any movement at 100 yards
 Lighting repairs are not made promptly due to unavailability of replacement
 Extra lighting at entry points

3. Gates/ Vehicles Inspection Point/ Car Parks

SITUATION AS SURVEYED:

 Parking spaces are provided


for guests and employees. It
has a three-level parking
space.
 Total parking space is eighty-
three slots.
 A signage that reads: “PLEASE
PARK FACING THE WALL” is
indicated at the wall.
 Parking slots are numbered.
 Monitored by CCTV cameras

Recommendation:

 One guard monitoring the


three parking basement
likewise providing assistance
to incoming and outgoing
employees and vehicle.
5. Building Access
a. Entrances

 No posted security
personnel at the main
entrance
 PR conducts traffic at
the Porte Cochere
area and in front of
Martinez 1 and 2.

Recommendations:

 A fix guard post must be deployed at the main lobby entrance to monitor the activities
and maintain peace and order thereat. Likewise this is also a requirement prescribed by
the National Accommodation Standards for Hotel

 All employees must be subjected to security procedures being implemented at Sierra
3 like bag inspection and body frisking.
 All employees taking a break entering and exiting Sierra 3 must also be frisked.
 Employees who are on off duty must not use hotel’s entrance lobby if they have
unfinished transaction in their work area.
 Employees who want to avail of the facilities of the hotel are required to manifest
their intent to the HR office or in their absence to the Executive on Duty.
b. IDs and Entry Passes

 Azalea Residences has a total of 59 cameras including operational CCTV cameras


installed at the lobby entrance, main lobby, front desk, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th floor.
In addition, a total of ten CCTV cameras including one operational camera are also
installed in strategic locations.

E. COMMUNICATION SECURITY

1. Communication System

 Azalea Residences has a help desk that can be contacted 24 hours a day.
 Selected personnel of the hotel are equipped with two way radios for
immediate communications. These selected employees are from the
engineering department, housekeeping and security department.
 Security personnel have their respective 2 way radios. The ratio is one
radio to one guard (1:1).

F. PERSONNEL SECURITY

1. Data Concerning Key Personnel


Information regarding Key Management Personnel and Azalea organic
employees is handled by The Human Resources Department.

2. Clearance Program
Managerial Employees, Confidential Employees, Rank and File Employees, Casual
Employees and On the Job Trainees are required to submit, as a requirement to
their employment NBI Clearance, Police Clearance and Medical Clearance.

3. Security Education
Formal security education or awareness program has not yet been offered to
employees

Recommendation:

 Conduct quarterly security awareness program to update employees of the usual


modus in hotel industry

4. Morale of Employees
Some interviewed employees were accommodating even if they were busy.
Some confidential information was not divulged.
Employees were observed to be high morale.

H. EMERGENCY RESPONSE CAPABILITY

1. Emergency Response Management and Alarm Systems

 Fire alarm enunciators, fire alarms, fire hoses, fire extinguisher, smoke detector
and sprinkler are installed in every floor. Fire hose can also be located along the
car park.

2. Emergency Facility and Medical Equipments

 Azalea Residences Clinic is located at the lower basement beside the


Finance Office.
 The clinic is equipped with basic medical equipments like first aid kits,
medicine cabinet, wheel chair and oxygen tank.
 During the conduct of this survey, the Azalea Residences has five three
(3) full time registered nurses:
 Meleanor Ferrer
 Cherryl Damatac
 Gabrielle Angeli Ybanez
 The clinic is open 24 hours from Wednesday to Sunday and it also has a
nurse on duty 24 hours.
 Patients needing further treatment are brought to Baguio General Hospital
for further treatment.
 During emergencies, the hotel’s vehicle is used to bring patients requiring
further treatment to the hospital.
 Fire truck lanes around the hotel has been properly marked with “Fire
Truck Lane”
