11. Conducts annual inventory of the library;

12. Encodes abstract of journals, short reviews of book, description of VHS and CDs

available in the library and reading materials;

13. Back-up the data from the server regularly;

14. Performs other related functions as maybe required by higher authority

IV. Library Student Aide

1. Performs assigned duties and responsibilities;

2. Operates computer and other audio visual equipment;

3. Helps maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the library;

4. Inspects books for deliberate markings, mutilations and vandalisms;

5. Ensures silence inside and outside the library premises;

6. Arranges the books, periodicals, publications, magazines and newspapers in

their proper places and classification;

7. Performs other related functions as maybe required by higher authority.

3. LIBRARY COLLECTION

The library collection comprises of the books, periodicals, maps, globes,

videotapes, CDs, CD-ROMs and other electronic resources. The Dewey Decimal

Classification System is adopted as shown below:

SERVICE AND UTILIZATION

The PSU Library Manual, as per BOR Res. 06, s. 2009 states the various

policies on library services and utilization, to wit: the library is available to all

stakeholders on a daily basis from 7:30 A.M. TO 5:00 P.M. without noon break, expect

during Saturdays. An open-shelf system is adopted to give students and faculty member

greater access to the library collection.

Services:

 Library Orientation

o This is administered to freshmen and transferees to acquaint them on the

rules and regulations, policies and procedures on the use of the library

and preservations of books.

 Issuance of Library Card

o All students are required to apply for a Library Card within the first month

of the semester to avail of its services.

 Book Loan

o Students are entitled to borrow books for an overnight or a week provided

a duly countersigned and updated Library Card is presented.

 Audio-Visual Materials

o These are added collection referred to as non-book materials and other

sources of information. These consist of serials, pamphlets, maps, charts,

pictures, tapes, CD-ROMs and the like.

 Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC)

o This service is available at Goa Library

 Internet

o Students can avail of the services with a fee of P15.00 per hour.

 Vertical File Collection

o A Vertical file collection is available for library users. It contains newspaper

and magazines clipping, pamphlets, ephemeral materials and the like on

various subjects.

 Library Tour

o The university Librarian conducts a library tour for students who want to

explore and know more about the different sections and services offered

by the library.

PHYSICAL SET-UP AND FACILITIES

The library is strategically located and is accessible to students, faculty and all potential users. It
is located at the first and second floor of the Library Museum Building. The library has a reading area for
the users. It has a space for mechanical and technical processing of the print and non-print materials,
photocopying, exhibits and displays, stocks or storage spaces for important library materials and
equipment, proper ventilation, lighting and appropriate facilities and staff room or lounge room for the
library personnel.

Library users shall be required to deposit their belongings to the counter as soon as they enter
the library. Depository tags are not brought out of the library premises.
