Journal. I will no longer be a columnist. I
will no longer be a reporter — and that ter-
rifies me.
Journalism has been a defining compo-
nent of my identify since I was in the sev-
enth-grade, when I decided that I wanted to
be an entertainment jour-
nalist. Sophomore year I
dropped the “entertain-
ment” and, by the middle
of junior year, my quali-
fier had been replaced
with “political.”
The genre switched
around a bit, but I had
always prided myself on
