At the end of January this year we announced that the Partners of the Eildon
Medical Pracce had advised NHS Borders of their decision to withdraw from
owning the premises in Newtown St Boswells from the end of 2019.
Pracce partners are connuing to work with NHS Borders to consider the opons
for the future provision of primary care services to the paents registered with
the Eildon Pracce.
(For both of these opons the Melrose Health Centre will remain open, but
consideraon will also be given to whether or not it will be refurbished).
3/ The Pracce sell the Newtown St Boswells building and all paents will be seen
from the Melrose surgery which will be refurbished to enable it to accommodate
the addional paents.
4/ A single new GP Pracce building will be built in the area for all Pracce
paents to replace the exisng buildings in Melrose and Newtown St Boswells.
A full descripon of each of the opons for consideraon will be available on the
NHS Borders and Eildon Pracce websites on 31 July 2018.
Explaining the next stage of the process, Medical Director Dr Cliff Sharp said: "An
opon appraisal is a standard tool we use in the decision making process for
se7ng objecves, creang and reviewing opons and analysing their relave
costs and benefits. By following an opon appraisal process we can give paents
and our stakeholders assurance that the strengths, weaknesses, risks and issues of
a range of different opons have been fully considered to idenfy a 'preferred
opon'.
"During July we will be wring to all households who have paents registered
with the Eildon pracce to share this update with them, tell them where and how
we will be giving future updates and give them the opportunity to be directly
involved in the process.
Unl the conclusion of this process the planned redevelopment of the Melrose
Health Centre building will remain on hold."
