DOST releases STARBOOKS V. 2.

ILOILO CITY— A total of 82 participants consisted of 46 attendees on the first day and 36 on the
second day from all over the region attended the Reorientation and Updating of Super
STARBOOKS held at the Quino Hall, Iloilo National High School (INHS) from December 14-15,
2017. This two-day event aims to reorient the beneficiaries of the previous version of
STARBOOKS and likewise to present the
updates that came with the latest version,
dubbed as “STARBOOKS Version 2.0”.
INHS Assistant Principal Edwin F. Mosura
thanked DOST for the STARBOOKS they availed
way back in 2013.

“We are very fortunate that we at INHS are the

pioneer beneficiary of the STARBOOKS in Iloilo.
Likewise, we would like to thank DOST Region VI
for the continued support in the field of Science
and technology” Assistant Principal Mosura said.

STARBOOKS, also known as the Science &

Technology Academic and Research-Based
Openly-Operated Kiosks, intends to make S&T
information accessible and available to students
specifically in the Yolanda-stricken areas.
Moreover, recent updates include full educational
and livelihood videos, DOST publications and
library materials.

The latest version of STARBOOKS include

changes and updates on report generation and
submission, uploading of patches, updates on its
site, sharing STARBOOKS server to the network.

the updates as regards STARBOOKS Version 2.0 during the
DOST-STII is quickly moving forward by Reorientation and Updating of Super STARBOOKS held at the
transforming its library into the first Philippine Quino Hall, Iloilo National High School (INHS).
Science Digital Library. STARBOOKS is STII’s
answer to the clamor of researchers to easier access to information, especially science and
technology information. As part of the implementation of the STARBOOKS, DOST-STII tapped
non-government organizations to support its implementation.

Although the concept of digital libraries is not new, not all countries have completely transformed
their libraries from traditional libraries, filled with endless rows of shelves of books and other
materials, to digital libraries with endless rows of tables of computer units.

STARBOOKS is geared towards the needs of students, researchers, and entrepreneurs,
