ELAGSE1RL7 Use illustrations and details in a story to describe its characters, setting, or events.
1. Empowered Learner
c. use technology to seek feedback that informs and improves their practice and to demonstrate their
learning in a variety of ways.
Universal Design for Learning (UDL): Kahoot! offers color coded answer choices that have one-to-one
correspondence to the answers offered for each question. This can help students who might have trouble
matching the answer choice they see on the screen with the answer that they think is right in their head (easy
to read and understand). It also offers anonymity, which encourages all students to participate and answer
the questions, regardless of how shy or outgoing they are in class.
Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity.
Before the activity begins, the teacher will start off by having a small class discussion about some of the things
students remember in regards to the elements of a story that they previously learned about. Once the
opening discussion ends, the teacher will open up the Kahoot! website on the interactive board in the front of
the classroom and refresh students’ memory about how to use Kahoot! (this tool has been used in class
before so students should be familiar with how to enter the class code and navigate through the activity).
Next, the teacher will instruct table leaders to get enough iPads for each person at their table and distribute
them to their tablemates.
Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):

Student Response and Assessment Tools
☒ Assess prior knowledge ☐ Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) ☐ To illuminate common
misconceptions ☐ Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) ☐ Summative assessment of content knowledge ☒ Test preparation
☐ Survey/Poll ☐ Discussion starter ☐ “Homework” collection ☐ Other (please explain):
Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity: The only materials that are needed for this
activity are WiFi and access to devices for students to access Kahoot! on (in this case, I am using a class set of
iPads). The teacher will facilitate the activity as students go through the questions and answer them
individually to show what they know. The teacher will be there for help if students have any questions or
need assistance/clarification. The entire activity will take about 10-15 minutes to complete.
If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them below (8-10):
The questions for this activity are in the Kahoot! game that is linked above.
Reflective Practice:
I feel that the activity I created will impact student learning by engaging students and preparing them for their
upcoming assessment. It will also help them to apply what they know in a way that is different from the
pencil-and-paper activities that you see in every classroom. In the future, I can use this same SRT, but take it a
step further by having students write and create problems/questions and incorporate those into the review.
