FORCE DIAGRAM / MEASURING POINTS
The theoretical extension force is calculated by multiplying the filling pressure by the cross section of the
piston rod. By changing these two factors, it is possible for Easylift to supply gas springs with any requested
Moving
extension force. Our standard specifications are available from 10N to 5000N. The extension force is always
mentioned with the specification and relates to the value F1 measured at 20°C ± 2°C with the piston rod products...

L S = Center of gravity
G = Weight of the flap in N (ca. Kp x 10)
system
b b = Power arm (corresponds to about 85% of the required stroke)
S X = Number of the springs
(generally 2 pieces, one for each side of the flap) easylift quality means gas springs that work
better and last longer.
G These values can be influenced by the gas volume or the oil quantity. A
special characteristic of Easylift gas springs is the low friction value.
Through the combinations of different nozzle orifices and oil quantity, it
F1 = G x L is possible to control the push-out and push-in speed as required.

CALCULATION PRINCIPLE OF THE EXTENDED FORCE F1

Our general extension force tolerance is +40N/-20N or ± 5-7%. The actual force of a gas spring depends
on the temperature it is operating in. For each 10°C, the force changes about 3.3%. Size and extension force
can be made according to your requirements. Please call for custom design assistance: 800-225-4498.

On a daily basis, engineers are faced with the challenge of improving existing products
as well as developing new ones. Typically, movement is required, whether to lift a bar
or lid, lower a seat or simply open a door. One of the easiest ways to improve product
performance is to reduce the amount of energy needed to do the work. For example:
One may have a door or lid that weighs hundreds of pounds. By using an Easylift gas
spring, you can reduce the amount of external energy necessary to operate the door
or lid.

Easylift offers a comprehensive range of products that will fit any application. Easylift
products are used in countless industries; such as marine, aerospace, furniture, recre-
ation, automotive, medical, machine construction, home and office furnishings...and
many more!

At Easylift we are constantly producing parts for our extensive stock. We pride our-
selves on maintaining a complete inventory to serve you with the fastest lead-time in
the industry. We can also custom manufacture parts for nearly every application.

Our product engineers can answer your questions over the phone. The internet also
serves as a valuable resource for design and order information. Please visit us at:

LOCKABLE
GAS SPRINGS
Controlled pushing, lifting and adjusting in both directions.

When considerable weights or forces influence moveable parts, a reliable

locking system is very important. The piston rod of the lockable gas spring
can be adjusted in any required position by activating the release pin. Lids
and doors can be held open, seats and tables are adjusted to any height or
and can be locked in place.

GAS SPRINGS
ADJUSTABLE
Easylift offers a variety of release systems to activate a lockable gas spring.
The release system can be mounted anywhere on your application and oper-
ated from a variety of start points. Pages 10-13 describes each system in
depth and available options.

The primary use of lockable gas springs is to provide not

only a controlled rate of speed, but also to allow the user
access to infinate locking positions. The release system
can be mounted anywhere on your application. The lock-
able gas spring is linked to a release system by a Bowden
wire system or hydraulic actuator.

Of course, Easylift lockable gas springs have the same positive characteristics
such as; low friction forces and high reliability - as all other Easylift gas springs.

RELEASE SYSTEM WITH LEVER
The release lever is the easiest and most frequently used device to
activate a lockable gas spring. The system attaches to a gas spring
with a release head connector, and then the lever is inserted into
the connector. This allows a user to directly lock and un-lock the
system. You may also choose the variable release head connector,
which allows a lever to be mounted on any side of the spring.

for controlled pulling, adjusting and damping.

GAS RINGS
Easylift is proud to be an industry leader with our innovative gas
traction springs, which work in the opposite direction of a stan-
dard spring. Where a standard spring will extend, a traction
spring will compress. This is crucial for applications where there

GAS SPSPRINGS
is simply no room for a gas spring, but movement or lifting is

ADJUSTABLE
necessary. You can use a traction spring from the outside of the

RINGS
application to pull an object into the desired position rather than

ADJUSTABLE
push it from the inside.

GAS
Easylift is known worldwide for its innovative designs. We know
we can design any spring to fit your application.

MOTION CONTROL DAMPERS Øy

MC-DAMPER
...are used as both safety and function to damp speed and to slow down masses.

GAS SPSPRINGS
RINGS
MC-dampers (MC = motion control)
is the generic term for special delaying damping springs that can

GAS
be used for many different safety and operating applications.
Easylift MC-dampers slow down masses or dampen speed
according to the size (dampers reduce shock and impact but can-
not be used as a limit stop).

GAS SPSPRINGS
MC-Damper “Design”

ADJUSTABLE
A standard damper is filled with oil. Because of

RINGS
ADJUSTABLE
this design, there is a small slip when the piston
is extended (Slip effect).

OVERSPEED BRAKE DAMPER
This Easylift MC-damper allows normal to quick move-

ments without regulation. In case of extraordinary speed,
this safety damper delays the movement according to
size and oil viscosity.

ADJUSTABLE
ADJUSTABLE V1-DAMPERS
An adjustable V1 damper is a spring specifically designed to control
speed rate. The speed rate can be adjusted via a control dial located at
the rod end of the spring (see diagram for details).

MC-DAMPER WITHOUT SLIP

This Easylift damping variety allows for controlled damping in both directions, with-
out slip effect. Here, the damping piston moves completely in a fixed oil chamber.
The piston rod volume doesn't influence the oil chamber with either a pushed-in or

A

pushed-out piston rod.

V1-DAMPERS

SELF-CENTERING, BI-DIRECTIONAL MC-DAMPER

This damper damps in both the compression as well as in extension direction and adjusts itself in
the center position. This damper requires minimal force which can be set according to your design
requirements.
CONNECTING PARTS PARTS

MC-DAMPER WITH FLOATING PISTON

If the installation is horizontal, the slip effect of the standard damper can be inconvenient. Therefore, the
Easylift system also provides a damping variety with a floating piston. The separation of the oil and gas
CONNECTING

Øx
chamber guarantees a smooth damping movement in any position. For the stabilization of the floating pis-
ton, it has to be pressurized by at least 20N. Depending on the position of the floating piston, the damper
can be stably installed either in the push or pull direction.

CONNECTING PARTS
Easylift offers an extensive line of connecting parts.
Please call for special requests. 800-225-4498

Easylift offers a complete range of hinge eyes, fork heads, elbow joints, ball joints and metal fit-
tings that fit nearly every mounting requirement.

Please note that the length of gas springs will change with the choice of different connecting
parts. The length of the Easylift gas springs is measured as follows:

- from mid hole to mid hole in case of hinge eyes, fork and hinge heads
- from mid ball to mid ball in case of elbow joints (sockets)

Please see the following pages for technical data on the connecting parts for your Easylift sys-
tem.
