Guidelines
Purpose:
If a Tenneco preferred Packaging is available it will be communicated to the supplier by means of the Packaging Standard Form.
Subsequently it is suppliers´ responsibility to perform a packing test, fill out the Packaging Standard Form and send this to the respective Tenneco buyer or
supplier development engineer. The final decision which packaging to be used (standard and alternative) and the way of packing is up to Tenneco.
Scope:
Applicable for all Packaging Material for new business launching.
Reference :
Weight Max = 15 kg. Handling by human
Max = 1,200 kg. Handling by forklift
Cleanliness Supplier is responsible to take care of cleanliness both of parts and packages
Package does not make scratch or damage on part during handling / transportation
To prevent dusty on parts by cover *** (applicable for Ride Control Plant : RC)

Blue For Tenneco in-house

Definitions:
Pack It consists of one-way packaging (e.g. plastic bag, paper box, plastic tray) will be contained in packaging unit. A Pack is the smallest
container in packaging.
Packaging It consists of returnable packaging (e.g. plastic box, steel pallet…) A Packaging unit is a bigger than pack.
Handling Unit: A handling unit consist of several packaging units bundled on one pallet (e.g. x KLT + Lid + Pallet). With bulk goods a single container
can also act as handling unit. Tenneco distinguishes between two types of handling units:
- Pallet (contains only one Tenneco part number)
- Mixed unit (contains several Tenneco part numbers)
Packaging type Consist of all type of packaging unit such as plastic bag + plastic box
Packaging weight Packaging weight = Pack weight (if any) + weight of packaging
Gross weight Gross weight = Packaging weight + Part weight
Label Supplier can propose either own standard of supplier label (but need to contain all info as Tenneco TAG) or use standard Tenneco
delivery tag
