Introduction

1. Background of the Company or Institution

Fujitsu Ten Solutions Philippines, Inc. (FTSPI) was established in 1999 by Fujitsu Ten
Limited (FTL) and Fujitsu Ten Corporation of the Philippines (FTCP). Formerly called
Fujitsu Ten Software Philippines, Inc., FTSPI develops software for state of the art
technology in Car Audio Visual and Communication Equipment, Car Multimedia,
Car Electronics and Simulation devices. It also carries out research and design of
prototype units, electrical circuits, mechanical parts, printed circuit boards for car
audio-visual equipment, car accessories and car electronic parts.

Together with FTL and FTCP, FTSPI has since evoked Innovation, Speed and Quality
in fulfilling its mission to develop software and hardware that integrate various
media and applications to provide entertainment in cars, to ensure safety and
efficiency in automotive electronics, to explore innovative ideas for information
technology, and to pursue a clean environment. At FTSPI, we strive to provide
pleasurable commuting by continuously developing car audio and visual facilities
to keep up with evolving technology and customer's needs. Prototypes for next-
generation car electronics are developed by our talented professionals to provide
a one-stop-shop for car navigation and entertainment.

2. Objectives of the Practicum

The objectives of the practicum is:

 To make the trainees understand the jargons and technical aspect of the work
used all through-out the source codes in Automotive Electronics Department.
 To make the trainees study the work standard of either Constant Check or
CORE Input depending on their group assignment.
 To make the trainees perform a trial project based on the project training that
they had received.
 To make the trainees deployed to their group when they had successfully
achieved the Quality and Productivity target of their project.

3. Significance of the Practicum

The significance of the practicum is to understand the Engine Coding Rule and to
understand the level up of code in C programming language. Understanding of
the specific projects performed by Integrated Development Section 1 in
Automotive Electronics Department based on proper work standards.
Understanding of CORE Database (Oracle based tool) and Constant Check Tool
(Excel Macro based Applications). Another significance of the practicum is for
the trainee to have a first-hand experience on how FTSP employees perform their
work.

B. Practicum Program/Project

In this practicum program, the work schedule is from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The
practicum starts from April 16, 2015 and ends on June 5, 2015.

The type of job in this practicum is to do CORE Input and CORE Check to the parts
of the engine with the understanding of Engine Coding Rule and Work Standard
Study. To be able to do this type of job, the trainees will be trained to understand
the Engine Coding Rule and Work Standard. Before deploying to the actual
project, the trainees must take an exam about Engine Coding Rule and CORE
project practice. The trainees must have a passing rate of 100% in the exam about
Engine Coding Rule and CORE project practice. The reason that the trainees must
have a 100% passing rate in exam because the company is concerned about the
life of the customer of the parts of the engine and the sales will be affected. After
that, the trainees will be deployed in the actual project given with the
corresponding parts of the engine assigned to the trainees.

The trainees will do the job and they will be called the PIC or person in charge
which is the CORE Input and CORE Check. After doing the job, the parts of the
engine done by the PIC or person in charge will be check by the DR persons or
Difference Report persons. If the DR persons or Difference Report persons found
the mistakes in the assigned parts of the engine in the project, they will indicate
the mistakes to the Correction Request Sheet and they will inform the PIC or person
in charge to change the inputted values in the CORE Database indicated in the
Correction Request Sheet. After that, the DR persons or Difference Report persons
will check again and if the PIC or person in charge has no mistakes in the assigned
parts of the engine, they have successfully finished the assigned parts of engine in
the project.

The problems encountered in this practicum is the work schedule due to late start
which is on April 16, 2015 and ends in June 9, 2015 if without overtime. The
company does not allow the trainees to have an overtime because it is written in
the rules of Department of Labor in the Philippines. The trainees are also not
allowed to have an overtime unless the employees will also have an overtime. The
solution to this problem is to write the letter to the Manager of Automotive
Electronics Department (AED), Supervisor of Integrated Development Section 1
(IDS1) and the Manager of the Corporate Services Department (CSD) to allow the
trainees to have an overtime.

The lessons that I learned are to do CORE Input and CORE Check to the parts of
the engine with the understanding of Engine Coding Rule and Work Standard. I
also learned to do the job of the FTSP employees. The solutions that I learned those
things are that I work harder to pass the examination In Engine Coding Rule and
CORE practice project. Another solution is to approach the trainer or the
supervisor if I questions to the examination.

C. Conclusion

In the assessment of this practicum program or project, if I rate from the scale of
1-10, I rate it 8 because the practicum program written in the training plan has met
its objectives.

For the future projects in the industry, I recommend that the FTSP employees in
Automotive Electronics Department (AED) / Integrated Development Section 1
(IDS1) must work harder to lessen the mistakes in CORE Projects to reach their
target sales.
