REMEDIAL WORK FOR BORED PILE

Both Sonic Logging test for Sg. Pasai bridge AAP9 raked pile (1:8) and B2P3 (vertical pile) were
found defects at depth of 14m to toe level

Proposal of remedial works by grouting

1. Drill core were conducted to investigate and repair the flaws / defects length. Core samples to
be recorded including the delivery of cores in standard box to required depth.
2. 50 mm diameter drill core shall be sunk to the defects depth. The requirement number of the
grout holes should be related to the shaft diameter for the bored pile size:

Shaft Diameter of Bored pile (mm) Desirable Number of Grout Holes

Not exceeding 2500 2
Not exceeding 3000 3
Not exceeding 3500 4
Not exceeding 4500 5

3. For Shaft Diameter less than 1000mm bored pile. Single core at the centre of shaft shall be
carry out
4. For vertical pile B2P3 50mm cores shall be carry out at the centre of the pile to the toe
approximate 18m from the cut off level.
5. For the raked pile AAP9, 75mm cores to be carry out at the centre of the pile, if any rebar
encounter to the coring bit, smaller diameter core of 50mm shall be continue to the required
depth to avoid cutting the reinforcement bar.
6. To clean up the defects or flaws by compressor cleaning shall be carry out prior or grouting
work.
7. The grout should be cement grout and strength of the grout should not be less than the
concrete strength of the bored pile
8. The grouting shall carry out until no significant grout intake is noted.
9. Full details of the remedial grouting works including identification of the pile grouting, nature
and thickness of the sediment / segregation discovered, effectiveness of flushing and grout
works and to be submit.
