Universal Design for Learning (UDL): With the use of the Socrative technology tool, every student has the
opportunity to individually complete the quiz. Some advantages of this is that students are able to complete
the quiz at their own pace and they don’t have to be present in the classroom to access the quiz. This gives
every student the opportunity to engage in the learning experience.
Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity.
Prior to the SRT activity, students will participate in several activities and exercises that will prepare them for
the activity. The teacher will lead the lesson by asking scaffolding questions to see what the students already
know about rhyming words and sound endings. The teacher will then read a book to the class about rhyming
words. While reading the story, the teacher will occasionally stop to assess the students and ensure their
understanding of why words rhyme and what makes them rhyming words. This will strengthen the students’
knowledge and have them better prepared for the SRT activity.
Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):
☒ Assess prior knowledge ☐ Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) ☒ To illuminate common
misconceptions ☒ Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) ☐ Summative assessment of content knowledge ☐ Test preparation
☐ Survey/Poll ☐ Discussion starter ☐ “Homework” collection ☐ Other (please explain):
Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity: After the large group discussion, students will
be given 20-30 minutes to complete the SRT activity. Each student will have access to a computer or mobile

device where they will be directed to the Socrative website and given a code to join the class to complete that
quiz that was previously created by the teacher. While the students are taking the quiz, the teacher will
accommodate to those students that may need assistance with completing the quiz.
Type of questions/prompts used in this activity (check all that apply):
☒ Multiple choice ☐ Multiple select ☒ True/False ☐ Yes/No
☒ Short open-ended response or fill-in the blank ☐ Longer open-ended response
If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them below (8-10):
Reflective Practice:
After designing the lesson, I realized that the activity could be used not only as a final quiz, but also to check
the progress of students and give them extra practice with the concept of rhyming words. The activity could
be used for other assessments as well, with different questions that cover a different content area. To further
enhance this project, student will continue to use technology games and websites to practice their
recognition of rhyming words.
