Mr. Kevin F. Adams, President

Kittery Trading Post
301 U.S. Route One
Kittery, ME 03904

Dear Mr. Adams:

We write to you in support of your family’s iconic Maine business and all of the wonderful products it sells. For 80 years,
Kittery Trading Post has helped Mainers exercise their Second Amendment right to bear arms with a high quality selection
of firearms, exceptional customer service, and superb gun safety programs. Your store has long stood at the gateway to
Maine as a symbol of the freedoms and the sporting heritage that Mainers and our visitors hold dear.

We are proud that Maine’s own Kittery Trading Post is one of the largest firearms retailers in the northeastern United
States. Maine consistently has one of the lowest gun violence rates in the nation thanks to traditions and laws that
encourage widespread and responsible gun ownership.

Unfortunately, three of our colleagues in the Maine Legislature, Representatives Dean Rykerson, Patricia Hymanson, and
Lydia Blume, are trying to bully your store into adopting a radical national gun control agenda that Mainers don’t want and
don’t need, even threatening boycotts and protests. These misguided politicians are resorting to mob tactics because they
have failed to persuade their fellow Mainers in the Legislature and at the ballot box. We speak for many of our constituents
when we commend you for standing firm in the face of an unprecedented nationwide attack on our constitutional rights.

Their call to ban “military-grade” or “assault-style” rifles is driven by emotion and ignorance. When your family opened its
store, an M1 Garand was a “military-grade” rifle. If you showed one to Reps. Rykerson, Hymanson, or Blume, they
wouldn’t be able to distinguish it from a hunting rifle. Their bizarre demand for a private business to restrict firearm sales
beyond what the law requires, to those 21 years of age or older, is a slap in the face to every Maine parent who has
diligently taught his teenage son or daughter to shoot and to every patriotic young Mainer who has enlisted in our nation’s
armed forces upon high school graduation.

The activist left in recent years has increasingly tried to force others to conform to their beliefs, rather than to persuade.
They are deploying this tactic against good American companies with extraordinary rigor. Sadly, this puts many businesses
in a difficult position. But all of you at Kittery Trading Post know your community well, and you can rest assured that
these bullying tactics do not represent the views of the vast majority of Maine people.

Sincerely,

Sen. Ron Collins Sen. David Woodsome Rep. Heidi Sampson

Rep. Robert Foley Rep. Don Marean Rep. Beth O’Connor

Rep. Wayne Parry Rep. Richard Cebra Rep. Dwayne Prescot

Rep. Jonathan Kinney Rep. Stedman Seavey
