I have a problem; a very, very serious problem. My hairdresser has retired!

Tengo un problema; un problema muy muy serio. ¡mi peluquero se ha jubilado!

I've been going to the same hairdresser for the last ten years and today he's retiring. It's
a disaster.

Llevo yendo a ese peluquero durante los últimos 10 años y hoy se jubila. Es un desastre.

Now I've got to find another hairdresser who understands me; one who talks when I want
to talk and keeps quiet when I'm not in the mood for talking: one who talks about subjects
that I'm interested in and never talks about subjects I'm not interested in... or that I know
nothing about.

Ahora tengo que encontrar otro peluquero que me entienda; uno que hable cuando
quiera hablar y esté callado cuando no me apetezca hablar: uno que hable sobre temas
que me interesan y nunca hable de temas que no me interesan… o de los que no sé
nada.

For example I don't want to talk about football and I do want to talk about films. This
should be easy enough to manage, shouldn't it? Well no, it's not at all easy.

debería ser bastante sencillo de manejar, verdad? Pues no, no es para nada sencillo.

And most important of all, I have to find a hairdresser who will cut my hair the way I like
it. Not the way he likes it. I don't want an artistic or creative hairdresser. I just want a
normal hairdresser.

como me gusta. No como a él le gusta. No quiero un peluquero artístico o creativo. Sólo
quiero un peluquero normal.

You have no idea how much time I had spent going from one hairdresser to another until
I found Raymond - that's his name-, my friend, the hairdresser.

No tengo ni idea cuanto tiempo he estado yendo de un peluquero a otro hasta que
encontré a Raymond -así es como se llama-, mi amigo, el peluquero.

I searched all over my neighbourhood and other neighbourhoods and even on the
outskirts of town. It seemed an impossible task to find a hairdresser I would get on with.

It used to take me three buses and then a half hour walk to get to Raymond's but it was
well worth the trouble. Raymond cut my hair without any fuss, without trying to innovate
or getting carried away by fashion.

merecía mucho la pena. Raymond me cortaba el pelo sin más, sin intentar innovar ni

I wonder what's to become of me now! I've tried out having my hair cut by half the
hairdressers in town and there's always something wrong.

It is either too long or too short or the sides aren't straight or too much is left on top or
they use hair oil.

But the thing that puts me off hairdresser after hairdresser is when they treat me like a
horse. That's right a horse. When they start to brush my hair as if they are grooming a
horse then I've had enough.

There is no more to be said. My hair is not a horse's mane. The minute the hairdresser
picks up the horse brush he fails the test.

That's it!I set off down the street mussing up my hair as much as I can. People stare at
me and must think I'm mad. How can I explain I've just come from giving a hairdresser
an exam?

quede mirando y deben de pensar que estoy loco. ¿Cómo puedo explicar que acabo
de venir de hacerle un examen a un peluquero?

I won't get any sleep until I find another hairdresser just like my old friend Raymond. I'll
have to start looking all over again.

No voy a dormir nada hasta que encuentre otro peluquero igual que mi antiguo amigo
Raymond. Tendré que empezar a buscar por todas partes otra vez.
