Highlights

ILIGAN CITY, PHILIPPINES – – –The Gregorio T. Lluch Memorial Hospital (GTLMH)


headed by Chief Dr. Virgil Marquez reported the department highlights during the flag raising
ceremony at Iligan City Hall last 11th of April 2016. The GTLMH has currently three
divisions viz. the Administrative Division headed by Mr. Larry Talingting, the Nursing Services
Division headed by the Chief Nurse Ms. Leonila Barbosa and the Medical Services Division
headed by the Chief of Clinics Dr. Courseline C. Lomocso.

There are four clinical departments under Dr. Lomocso’s division. The OB – Gyne department
headed by Dr. Lovella G. Hugo, Pediatric department headed by Dr. Julie Ann Legados, the
Medicine department headed by Dr. Mae Grace Ablaña and the Surgery department headed by
Dr. Abigail Alfeche. The GTLMH have a total of one hundred three regular employees, two
hundred Job Order Workers and seventeen contractual physicians for the departments manpower
compliment that delivers quality health care services to hospital clients.

For the first quarter admission, they have a total of 3,510 patients with an occupancy rate of
116.27 % and reported that the ten leading causes of discharges (morbidity) are: Deliveries with
seven hundred eighty six individuals; Community Acquired Pneumonia with four hundred five
individuals; Acute Gastroenteritis /Infectious diarrhea with one hundred fifty nine individuals;
Hypertensive Cardiovascular Disease with eighty seven individuals; Hypertension with seventy
three individuals; Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever with sixty five individuals; Anemia with fifty six
individuals; Diabetes Mellitus with forty two individuals; Acute Pyelonephritis with forty one
individuals; and Urinary Tract Infection with thirty individuals.

For the first quarter Surgical Cases carried out there were two hundred seventy nine cases
accomplished. Out of this two hundred seventy nine cases, two hundred thirty three were from
Iligan City and the rest were from adjacent municipalities, provinces and cities.

Further, the Gregorio T. Lluch Memorial Hospital have the Out Patient Department (OPD)
consultation which have already catered seven thousand two hundred individuals under the
Primary Care Benefits Program of the Philhealth which covers four barangays of Iligan i.e.
Barangay Pala-o, Barangay Pugaan, Barangay Ubaldo Laya and Barangay Del Carmen served by
the OB-Gyne, Surgery, Pedia, Medicine, and Dental clinics.

The Point Of Care (POC) program authored by the Chairman on Health and Sanitation Dr.
Usafeno F. Obial under city ordinance no. 15 – 6278 “ POC enrolment for PhilHealth of all
residents of Iligan City for free once admitted in the GTLMH hospital”, have catered five
hundred seventy four individuals enrolled in this program for 2016 first quarter.

About four hundred fourteen individuals or 11. 79 % total number and percentage of patients
from adjacent provinces were admitted at the said hospital for the first quarter, this year. The top
ten municipalities are Linamon with eighty four; Kauswagan, Lanao del Norte with sixty three;
Balo-I, Lanao del Norte with fifty four; Luga-it, Misamis Oriental with twenty six; Bacolod,
Lanao del Norte with twenty two; Piagapo, Lanao del Norte with twenty; Manticao, Misamis
Oriental with seventeen; Matungao with sixteen; Tagoloan, Lanao del Norte with fifteen; and
Lanipao, Lanao del Norte with twelve.

Income Sources

Different income sources of the hospital are from the PhilHealth hospital charges which the area
of coverage (In Patient) are from the Point Of Care (POC), Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino
Program or 4P’s, Senior Citizen, Kasambahay, and National Household Targeting System
(NHTS); Primary Care Benefits (PCB) Out Patient; Training and Affiliations which caters
Nursing, Midwifery and Health Care Givers; and the hospital fees derived from laboratory,
medical certification fees, medical supplies use and surgical procedures in which collection
amounted to Php 1,124,385.00 for the first quarter of this year 2016.

Additional income for the first quarter is from the payment of PhilHealth for hospital charges
amounted to Php 15,436,447.00 downloaded to GTLMH account through the Land Bank.

Region Wide Coordination

In the month of March GTLMH officials attended the region wide coordination meeting on
health facilities for the proposed project on Health Facility Enhancement Program. Department
Of Health

(DOH) granted this year GTLMH the amount of Php 20 Million for the renovation/ repair of
admin building which includes the Emergency Room (ER) and the proposed ISO unit for
admission including five clinics such as the Surgery, Pedia, OB, Dental, and OPD clinics. Php 80
Million for construction of three-storey building and Php 15 Million for medical equipments
budgets were granted to the department-GTLMH for the year 2017.
