Migration

2/12/2018 S. Wahyuni/lecture/Immunology 10
• Migration of effector T
lymphocyte to the site of
infection is a function of
adhesion molecules
• Specificity of cell-
mediated immunity
against different
microbes is a function of
lymphocytes
• Elimination of microbes is
a function of activated
macrophages

Phagocytosis of microbes

2/12/2018 S. Wahyuni/lecture/Immunology 12
Contact of infected macrophag &
CD4+th1 effector T cells
Event
- TCR bind to complex
MHC2-protein
antigen
- CD40L bind with
CD40
- IFN-g produced by
Effector CD4+ bind to
IFN-g receptor
Result Macrophage
activation

Your turn Guys

2/12/2018 S. Wahyuni/lecture/Immunology 25
Resume
• Eradication of intracellular bacteria is done by:
Cell-mediated immunity
• 2 types of effector CMI: CD4+ Th1 & CTL
lymposites
• When MHC present protein /peptide antigen to
naïve t cell in draining lymphnoses, Effector t cell
generated & migrate to: the site of infection
• Migration of effector cells controlled by adhesion
molecules that will bind by their ligand in
endothel that had been produced due to
induction by microbes
2/12/2018 S. Wahyuni/lecture/Immunology 26
Resume
• CD4+ TH1 Lymphocyte eradicate intra vesicle microbes
by activating microcidal function of macrophage
• CD8+ T cells differentiate into CTLs that kills cell
containing microbe in cytoplasm mainly by inducing
DNA fragmentation & apoptosis CD8+ T cells
differentiate into CTLs that kills cell containing microbe
in cytoplasm mainly by inducing DNA fragmentation &
apoptosis
• CD4+ & CD8+ T cells often function cooperatively in
eradicating microbes
• Many patoghenic microbes have evolved mechanisms,
to resist cell mediated immunity
