The following list of General Holidays sanctioned by the Government for the
year 2010 is published for general information.

All Second Saturdays, Sundays and the following days.

Note :

1) This list does not include Mahaveera Jayanthi (28.03.2010), Basava


Jayanthi (16.05.2010), Independence day (15.08.2010), Vijayadasami
(17.10.2010), which falls on Sundays.

2) Government Offices will be closed through out the State on General


Holidays. However Heads of Department should make necessary
arrangements for the discharge of urgent work.

3) If any of the Muslim Holidays notified above does not fall on the date
notified Muslims in Government Service may be granted Holiday on the
date of observance in lieu of the holidays already notified.

4) Local holidays, are declared for Kodagu District only on account of


Huthri Festival on 23.11.2010 (Tuesday).

5) Separate list of Holidays will be published by the Commissioner of


Public Instructions Bangalore for the Education Department.

6) In addition to the General holidays, the State Government Employees


may utilise any of the Restricted Holidays not exceeding two days
during the year 2010 with previous permission from the authority who
is authorised to sanction casual leave.

Under the explanation of Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881


(Act No.XXVI of 1881) read with Notification No.20/25/26/Pub-I dated
15.06.1957 of the Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs, the
following shall be Public Holidays throughout the State of Karnataka during
the year 2010.

All Sundays and the following days.

2) These holidays are declared for closing of Accounts of Commercial


Banks and Co-operative Banks. The Reserve Bank of India will be
functioning on these days. All the Offices of the Reserve Bank will,
therefore remain closed for public transactions on July 01. However,
December 31 will be a working day for Reserve Bank of India.
