Reflection
(Minimum of 3-4 sentences per question)
1. Briefly describe the field experience. What did you learn about technology coaching and technology leadership from completing this field
experience?

For this project, students were asked to create a presentation about the different regions of Georgia. Students had to include facts about their region as well as
to research 3 animals and 3 plants of their choice from that region. Students were given Chromebooks and Kindle fires to do their research. The students
used the research library on Eclass (Gwinnett county online learning system) Students presented their information to the class at the end of the week.

2. How did this learning relate to the knowledge (what must you know), skills (what must you be able to do) and dispositions (attitudes, beliefs,
enthusiasm) required of a technology facilitator or technology leader? (Refer to the standards you selected above. Use the language of the PSC
standards in your answer and reflect on all 3—knowledge, skills, and dispositions.)

Knowledge – For this project I had to create several instructional materials that helped students organize their research notes. I also had to model to the
students where to find information as well as how to summarize it. I also had to discuss digital citizenship and internet safety since sometimes they had to
perform google searches. Students also received tutorials on productivity tools and publishing sites to help them with their presentation.

Skills – In order for this project to be completed within the time frame, I had to create a schedule of activities for the students to follow. I also had to check
their progress constantly to make sure they were on track. I was also available to assist students when troubleshooting or connectivity issues arose.

Dispositions – I remained a facilitator during this project. I was able to make myself accessible to all students during all the stages of the project. I provided
feedback of their work, and I also show them how to perform some tasks on the computer in order to help them with their products.

3. Describe how this field experience impacted school improvement, faculty development or student learning at your school. How can the impact be
assessed?
This experience helped students reinforce the topic of the Georgia regions. They were also able to create a product using technology and to share it with
others. Students learned to synthesize information and they were also able to work successfully in a group.

Reflection
(Minimum of 3-4 sentences per question)
1. Briefly describe the field experience. What did you learn about technology coaching and technology leadership from completing this field
experience?

For this project, students were introduced to Genius Hour. Students were told that they were going to research a topic they felt passionate about. In order to
keep the integrity of the course, students were asked to pick a science topic. They were also asked to share their information with the class. Students were
given a choice on what to create as a product; however, most students opted for a multimedia presentation. Giving the students the choice to pick their topic
helped keep them engaged and interested throughout the project.

Knowledge – Due to the age and eager nature of 5th grade students, I was able to take a step back in order to allow students to unleash their creativity! I did
have several management pieces established in order to use time wisely. Students had a log to keep their notes, and they were also given tutorials on how to
use some of the technology resources.

Skills – I was able to successfully coach and assist students throughout the project. Several of the students chose to use emaze.com to publish their product. I
had to become an expert on this website in order to be able to help the students in case they had problems.

Dispositions – I was able to remain a facilitator and technology coach for my students throughout the duration of this project. Even though I did not always
agree with the topics they chose, I decided to remain neutral. The objective of this project was for the students to learn to work with others and to share their
passions. I believe this was accomplished and that the students truly enjoyed creating a product, sharing, and having a choice!

3. Describe how this field experience impacted school improvement, faculty development or student learning at your school. How can the impact be
assessed?
Students enjoyed the freedom to choose their own topic. They were also very happy to share what they had learned with others. Students were able to
compromise and to work successfully with others. They also learned to give constructive feedback to classmates.
