1. A Cotton yarn of 30’s Nm is produced from cotton fibers with micronaire value of 4.2. Find out
the limiting irregularity of that yarn.
Solution:
From conversion factor,

Tex= = = 0.1111Td
𝑁𝑒 𝑁𝑚
Given,
Nm= 30’s
1000
So, Cotton yarn count in Tex, Ty = = 33.33 Tex

Cotton fiber count in Tex, Tf = {4.2×10^(-6)×39.37×1000} = 0.165Tex

n = 𝑇𝑓 = .165 = 202

Ans : 7.03%

2. A roving with a CV value of 7.5% is fed to a ring frame. Find irregularity added by ring frame if
resultant yarn has a CV of 11.5%.
Solution:
Given,
Roving fed CV%= 7.5%
Resultant yarn CV%=11.5%
We know,
CV2 input + CV2 add = CV2 output
CV add = √11.52 − 7.52 = 8.71%
Ans : 8.71%

3. A cotton yarn of 40 Nw consists of cotton fibers with micronaire value of 4.1. Find out the
limiting irregularity of that yarn.
Solution:
Given,
Nw=40

So , Cotton yarn count in Tex , Ty = = 40 =22.145

Cotton fibre count in Tex, Tf= {4.1×10^(-6)×39.37×1000}=0.1614 Tex
We know,

4. If actual CVm of 30 Ne cotton yarn is 20% and the yarn is produced from cotton fibers of 0.3
Tex. Calculate irregularity index.

5. The inherent CVm of a material is 8%. Due to faulty processing about 1.5% irregularity is added.
Calculate the resultant irregularity.
Fed CV%= 8%
Added CV%=1.5%

 CV output =√82 + 1.52=8.139% ; Ans : 8.139%

6. In a blend (CVC = 65:35) where cotton of 0.02 Tex, polyester of 0.024 tex and produced yarn
count is 30 Ne. Find out the limiting irregularity for this blend.
