Student’s Fieldwork Goals

1. Social Change/Program Development Goal: One of my goals to work in the field of counseling is to be
of service to others by integrating empathy, compassion, knowledge about recovery, and create healthy
boundaries which will bring change to this community. I will also like to work in my therapeutic skills and
improving in all the 12 core functions of counseling (Screening, Intake, Orientation, Assessment,
Treatment planning, Counseling, Case Management, Crisis Intervention, Client Education, Referral,
Report and Record Keeping, Consultation with other professionals) this function serve as backbone in
the counseling field to help others in their recovery.

Time Frame: I will start this immediately and there is not an specific time to finish, as this is a
progressive work we get different clients with different mentalities and issues which will have me
readjust to their needs.

Method: Step 1: Create boundaries, Step 2: Shared those boundaries and rules with clients. Step 3: Get
feedback from clients Step: 4 evaluate if those boundaries help make change in each of the clients. Ask
my immediate manager to help me with my therapeutic skills and 12 core functions and asked for his or
her evaluation. Sit through therapist groups and clinical meetings.

2. Personal Growth Goal: One of the personal goal I have is to develop stronger communication skills,
especially facilitating groups. I believe that when you become a communicator of social change you
must be clear and communicate clearly your objectives and concerns to others.

Time Frame: I will start working on this goal immediately, it will be a progressive goal so there is not
time to finish on this goal.
Method: I will work on this goal by preparing myself better every day when facilitating groups. I will also
ask clients for constructive feedback, I will also have my manager sit through my groups and make
evaluation. I will take that feedback and consider which areas I need to work on and improve applied
those considerations to next group meeting.

3. Professional Growth Goal: One of my professional goals is to develop stronger group skills and
methods, learn from therapist how they interact with clients as this will help me learn essentials about
the field of counseling and eventually as a therapist.

Time Frame: I will start this immediately, and there is not time to end this as every day is an opportunity
to growth.

Method: I will sit down in each and every group I can and make observations on what therapist do
during their groups. I will pay close attention in their method development, and how they interact with
the clients. I will asked therapist questions and suggestions on how to acquire those skills. I will also
asked clients for feedback from those groups. I will apply some of those technics in the groups I
facilitate.
