overview of the
examination process
Approximately 28,000 candidates
enrolled in the CPA Program in
Semester 1 2009 and over 26,000
candidates sat examinations in April
and May. Examinations were invigilated
by Deakin Prime at 283 venues world-
wide. Examinations were held between
30 April 2009 to 8 May 2009.
For most segments, candidates were
required to score between 60 and 65
per cent to achieve a pass grade.
Performance levels required for grades
higher than a pass were determined
using the standard deviation for each
segment.
Examination results
All candidates were able to access
their individual results on a password
protected site linked to CPA Australia’s
Ltd website and via SMS. Official result
statements were mailed to all
candidates by 19 June 2009.
All candidates were able to access
their individual diagnostic report
(Personal Analysis Letter). This report
clearly distinguishes the topics on
which a particular candidate performed
poorly and is a helpful guide to
candidates on how to improve their
examination performance. CPA
Australia Ltd Professional Programs
and Pathways staff are available to
assist candidates in selecting
segments, and reviewing study and
examination techniques.

Distinctions are issued a special
Certificate of Merit in recognition of
their achievement.
