Reflection:
The activities listed above are all related to the beginning stages of creating this Capstone Project.
In order to effectively implement this project it was imperative that I initially gather knowledge
of what support was needed from the staff and students in regards to the OneNote software.
Informing parents of what we were accomplishing was also an important piece, therefore I
needed to create an informing email with supported research. Finally, to best utilize classroom
time, I created student OneNote notebooks for all 3rd grade students. This process allowed for me
to troubleshoot any technological errors with the software and evaluate any additional support
that may be needed for this project to be successful.

Reflection:
The group of activities listed above were conducted to create the needed staff development based
on the analyzed survey results to support the effective use of the technology needed within this
project. Through the Screen-O-Mastic video software, I created review videos to support the
staff and students with troubleshooting the OneNote and Office 365 software. Next I gathered
needed research to support the purpose of student ePortfolios through use of authentic assessment
for the 3rd grade teachers to review during our professional development session. I created a
2

professional development session for the 3rd grade staff that provided best practices and an open
forum format to address concerns and provide support. Next, I created a feedback survey for the
3rd grade staff to complete to provide me with a direction for supporting their efforts with our
student ePortfolios. Finally, I conducted the professional development session for our 3rd grade
staff. Through this professional development session I was able to gain information on how to
best support this project as well as develop a strong relationship with the team in creating the
needed sections of the student portfolios together.

Reflection:
Continued planning and development of ideas to support this project are reflected in the activities
above. By creating a rubric/guideline for the students to follow allowed for students to practice
reflective practices to determine what activities should be included within their portfolios.
Creation of the introduction lesson plan for the teachers allowed for the uniform discussions
across the grade level to ensure all students would be prepared for the implementation of the
portfolio as well as what would be expected.

Reflection:
Once the staff was ready to implement the introductory lesson, I assisted with that process by
utilizing co-teaching and modeling strategies. Some teachers wanted more support and required
a more modeling experience where I lead the lesson, while others required more of a co-teaching
experience where I had more of an assistant role. Throughout the months of February and March
I continued to monitor the student submissions to ensure they were being utilize effectively as
well as attend 3rd Grade team meetings to receive feedback on the current state of the project and
provide any needed support.

Reflection:
Upon completion of this Capstone project, I created a feedback survey in an effort to receive
feedback from the 3rd grade staff and students. Within this survey, the teachers and students
provided me with their thoughts on what was successful and what areas they would like to
change. From these results, I next met with the 3rd grade staff to determine the best practices and
future uses for the student e Portfolios. I created a presentation for our administration to develop
an understanding of this process and its success. From that meeting, I was asked to create a
school-wide staff professional development session for the upcoming school year on the effective
uses of student ePortfolios for authentic assessment purposes.
