To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing to you in regards to Ms. Kelly Calaunan and her hopes to attend Azusa
Pacific University’s LVN to BSN bridge program. I have been working with Ms. Calaunan since
she has been with our company in 2014 as a lead charge nurse. Our company works with health
care members to provide specialized memory care to residents with Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s,
and other forms of dementia and memory impairment. As her primary supervisor and the
Director of Health Services at Silverado Senior Living, I can assure you that Kelly has shown
much determination through her unwavering work ethic and continues to display her ambition
for higher education and work experience.

When I first met Kelly during her interview, she immediately grasped my attention with
her lively and cheerful attitude, which I find to be a necessary characteristic for nurses. From that
point forward, there has not been a workday where Kelly did not leave someone smiling.
Furthermore, I knew that with Kelly starting off in the nursing field at such a young age, she
would truly continue to grow and expand her knowledge because of her never-ending passion
and enthusiasm in caring for others. It is clear to me that she is quick to learn, for she adamantly
listens to any constructive feedback and applies it promptly. Doing more than what was asked of
her, Kelly has taken up the responsibility of leadership roles by participating in care conferences
– Silverado’s bi-annual meeting with the patients’ family members, facility leaders, and social
workers to keep families updated on their loved ones. Overall, Kelly certainly contributes to our
team through her great ability to utilize critical nursing skills in mental health.

Undoubtedly, working with patients who have dementia can be challenging because of
the behaviors that come along with it. Kelly’s lively attitude is one of the significant character
traits that help anyone she encounters overcome a bad day. Her notable work ethic, exceptional
skillset, and strong leadership has brought me to the conclusion that I fully support her in any
decision she makes in hopes of expanding her knowledge in the nursing field. I truly believe Ms.
Calaunan is a great candidate for your LVN to BSN program. If you have any questions or
concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.
