CHIAROSCURO LIGHTING AND SHADOW

For this assignment you will create an image from paper sculptures as your subject. You will create the drawing using
compressed charcoal, vine and Charcoal pencil. Erasers will be used to obtain white and light values from a mid-range
charcoal ground. Charcoal will be added to create a FULL range of values and smooth value transitions. A chiaroscuro
special effect will be created from a strong direct light source, cast shadows and strong contrast. Fill the composition so
that there are a minimum of 2 parts of the form cropped off at least the edges of the picture plane.
