13𝜋
c. (− 8 ,-6)
8𝜋
d. ( 3 ,12)
28𝜋
2. Give the rectangular Cartesian coordinates of the point with polar coordinates (− 12
,-6)
3. A point has rectangular Cartesian coordinates (−12, 4√3). Find the polar coordinates (𝑟, 𝜃) of
this point where 𝑟 < 0 𝑎𝑛𝑑 0 < 𝜃 ≤ 2𝜋.
4. Find a Cartesian equation of the curve with polar equation 𝑟 = 𝑐𝑜𝑠 3 𝜃.
5. Find a polar equation of the curve with Cartesian equation 𝑦 2 = 𝑥 2 + 1.
6. Find all symmetries of the curve with polar equation 𝑟 = 𝑐𝑜𝑠3𝜃.
7. Find the exact length of the arc of the spiral of Archimedes 𝑟 = 𝑒 𝜃 𝑓𝑟𝑜𝑚 𝜃 = 0 𝑡𝑜 𝜃 = 1.
8. Sketch the graphs of the two polar equations 𝑟 = 2(1 + 𝑐𝑜𝑠𝜃) 𝑟 = 6𝑐𝑜𝑠𝜃 and indicate all the
points of intersection.
