Good afternoon everybody, it such an honor to be here. But first let me to
introduce ourself. My name is Dewi and there are my partner, there are Apnes,
Winda, Rio, Rachma, Denny, Helmi, and Anna. Today we are going to present
about our presentation about “Exponential Growth”. In this time we got the topic
about exponential growth and we have five questions to be solved by using
exponential growth. For the first will be represented by Denny and he will explain
the formula of exponential growth.

Exercise
A farmer started a social networking site, farmerandfriend.org, that shares
backyard gardening tips. When farmerandfriends.org enabled members to post
photos and videos, the website’s membership grew exponentially. Here’s function
that describes that exponential growth.

120.000 = 𝑎(1 + .40)6

(Read: one hundread and twenty thousand equals a times the quantity of one plus
point four zero to the power of six)

So, now we can explain the common form of exponential growth. The common
form is:
𝑦 = 𝑎(1 + 𝑏)𝑥
In this formula, we know the variable explain:
Y is final amount remaining over period of time, a is the origin amount, x
is time, and b is percent change(decimal form).

1. My impression about our presentation. First I feel nervous. But the other
side, i got more knowledge specially about exponential growth. After
presentation i feel good.
2. My wish after i do presntation, we can become more fluently in english
and we understand english well.

Well, now i can explain the firts question.

The question:
How many people belong to farmerandfriend.org 6 months after it enabled photos-
sharing and videos-sharing?
Okay, i will answer the question. There are 120.000 people who visit
farmerandfriends.org 6 months after it enabled photos-sharing and videos-sharing.
We can see from the formula of exponential growth is
120.000 = 𝑎(1 + .40)6
The formula explain people who visit farmerandfriend.org 6 months after it
enabled photos-sharing and videos-sharing. Let a is a constant.
So, the result is 120.000.
The next part will explain by Rachma.

1. My impression about our presentation is well. All of us can explain the

problem of the exercises. First i feel well, but when i talked about my topic
i feel nervous so i cannot explain more.
2. My wish this class will get better in english. And we can use english in
daily activity because english is very important in world. And i hope can
speak english better and don’t nervous again.

Now, i can explain the second question.

The question:
Does this function represent exponential growth or decay?
The answer is:
This function reprensts exponential growth for two reasons. For the first reason,
the information paragraph reveals that “The website membership grew
exponentially”. So we can conclude the function is exponential growth.
The second reason there is a positive sign right before 0.04 than called the
percentage change. The positive sign make increasing membership. Therefore, we
can conclude the function is exponential growth.

1. My impression for our presentation. For the first time i can do presentation
and thinking it’s good enough.
2. My wish, i hope i can do the best for the next presentation.

The question:
What is the monthly percent increase or decrease?
The answer is:
We know from the form
𝑦 = 𝑎(1 + 𝑏)𝑥
we know b is 0.4. in directly from b=0.4, we got the montly presnt increase is
40%.

Experience:
This presentation was not m first presentation in englisht, but i still fell nervous
because the condition was not condusiv. Now, i know that the first prsentation
must ber simple and clear to presentating. But from the presentation, i got many
knowledge how to presentating to the good presentation.
Okay, i’m going to answer the next question.
The question:
How many members belonged to farmerandfriends.org 6 months ago, right before
photos-sharing and videos-sharing were introduced?
The answer is:
In this case, we had given the equation
120.000 = 𝑎(1 + .40)6
We need to find the constant of a and then we can see from the slide.
120.000 = 𝑎(1 + .40)6

And then we have (1.4) equals 4.52936
So, 120.000 = 𝑎(7.529530)
And then we can find a with
120.000
𝑎=
7.529536
And 𝑎 = 15937,23704

So, many members of farmersandfriend.org 6 months ago before photos-sharing

and videos-sharing were introduced is 15.397 members.

Experience:
My impression about our presentation is well. All of us can explain the problem of
the exercises. First i feel well, but when i talked about my topic i feel nervous so i
cannot explain more. My wish this class will get better in english. And we can use
english in daily activity because english is very important in world. And i hope can
speak english better and don’t nervous again.

Now, i will continued the last question.

The question is:
If these trends continue, how many members will belong to the website 12 monts
after the introduction of photos-sharing and video-sharing?
The answer is:
I am going to solve the fifth question.
We have the function
𝑦 = 𝑎(1 + 𝑏)𝑥

We know that
𝑎 = 15937,23704
𝑏 = 0.40
𝑥 = 12
So, by wing algebra of mathematics, we get
𝑦 = 15937,23704(1 + 0.40)12
𝑦 = 903.544,3203
So, belong to the website 12 months after the introduction of photos-sharing and
video-sharing 903.544,3203 members.
Experience:
1. When i want to presentation i might to prepare it before, so that i can tell
the lesson successfully without any problem. When i got presnentation in
front of the class, i feel nervous because all audience is attend to me.
2. Before the presentation i should learn the material.

The experience of moderator :

1. When i become a moderator in the presentation yesterday, it was my first
experience firstly i felt normal but when i started to speak i become
awkward. But overall i was happy because i can finish it well.
2. I hope i can speak english better and smoothly through this class.

So, the conclusion of our presentation is:

This function show us that the website’s membership at a social networking site
grew exponentially where the montly percent increase is 40%. Therefore the
function is exponential growth.
