Common Core Tell and write time in hors and half hours using analog and digital clocks
and Content 1st graders should be able to read both an analog and digital clock within the hour and half hour. A typical
Standard(s) practice exercise involves reading and recording the times on a series of analog clocks.

8 Describe how you will adapt your lesson for the following learners:
Differentiated
English Learners
Instruction
For my English Learners I would use my Bilingualism to communicate with them in areas that
perhaps they do not understand. I would try to keep a balance between English and Spanish
with them.
Special Needs
I would keep my eye alert for those students that might need extra help. I would help them by
meeting individually or in a group to reinforce concepts, content and ideas.
Accelerated (Gifted/Talented)
For my accelerated learners I would provide them with more advanced work/ worksheets. I
would also motivate these students in teaching other students having a difficult time.
9 Describe at least TWO different types of formal or informal assessments you will use during your
Assessments lesson to check for student learning:
I will assess the independent work of my students
I will Mini- conference with students who scored low.
I will provide reinforcement by assigning homework or another opportunity to master the
concept in another (next) lesson.
10 Prior Knowledge, Context, and Motivation (How will you connect the beginning of the lesson
Lesson to what students already know and/or motivate them to learn about the topic?)
Delivery
My introduction will be important in getting my students attention and keeping them interested
throughout the lesson. I would call the students together as a group. I would then ask them what
items is used to tell time, followed by taking responses by raised hands. I would continue with
informing students that clocks come in all shapes and sizes and would let them know that we will
be making analog clocks, or a clock that has rotating hands.
