Activity The students will use the Story Creator app to make
a fictional story about a food chain. The Story
Creator app can be found in the iTunes store and is
free. Immediately after download, instructions
appear on the screen to click the “+” icon to begin a
new story. At that point, students can choose a
picture from their device to put as the cover photo
on the book. The app allows students to easily add
text, pictures, voice files, and “draw” and “paint” on
the pages. The assignment would be for the
students to create a short story with three
characters in it—a producer, a consumer, and a
decomposer. The students must demonstrate

understanding of the environmental role of a
producer, consumer and decomposer and provide
accurate examples of each.

whiteboard that you can access on any device.
Students can make notes, draw, add photos, etc.
and see each other’s additions in real time. Students
must sign in using their e-mail address. The
assignment would be for students in groups of three
or four to pick a substance made up by two or more
atoms. Students must collaborate on their devices in
real-time together to accurately depict their
selected compound and show how it is structured.
Students must illustrate their compound they’ve
selected by showing atoms from each element it
consists of and how they bond to form the
compound. Students must show the type of bond
that holds the compound together, and how the
elements join.
