This filet crocheted chair set, made of No. 50 Mercerized Crochet Cotton, may also be used as a
buffet set or the large piece may be used as ends for scarfs. The pattern includes charts for chair
back and arm rest, also instructions how the charts are to be used.

No. 50 Mercerized Crochet Cotton in (150 yard) balls; a No. 12 Steel Crochet Hook

GAUGE
BEFORE STARTING ARTICLE IT IS ADVISABLE TO MAKE A SAMPLE PIECE TO
INSURE THE CORRECT GAUGE.
6 spaces = 1 inch; 6 rows = 1 inch.
CHAIR BACK

1ST ROW: Ch 291, 1 dc in the 4th st from hook, 1 dc in each of the next 104 sts of chain, ch 2,
skip 2 sts, 1 dc in next st (this forms a space; see chart), another space, ch 2, skip 2 sts, 1 dc in
each of the next 61 sts, 2 spaces, ch 2, skip 2 sts, 1 dc in each of the remaining 106 sts.

2ND ROW: Ch 3, turn, skip the first dc, 1 dc in each of the next 9 dc, (ch 2, skip 2 dc, 1 dc in
each of the next 10 dc) 7 times, ch 2, skip 2 dc, 1 dc in next dc, 3 more spaces, (2 dc in next space,
1 dc in next dc) 3 times, follow chart across row working a space for each open square and a
block for each solid square on chart (4 dc worked side by side form a block, when 2 or more
blocks follow consecutively work 3 dc for each and an extra dc at the end), end row with 1 dc in
top st of turning chain.

3RD ROW: Ch 3, turn, skip the first dc, 1 dc in each of the next 9 dc, (ch 2, 1 dc in each of the
next 10 dc) 6 times, ch 2, 1 dc in each of the next 7 dc, ch 2, skip 2 dc, 1 dc in next dc, ch 2, 1 dc in
next dc, follow chart across. Follow chart to end of the 19th row.

20TH ROW: Ch 5, turn, skip the first 3 dc, 1 dc in next dc, follow chart across, end with a block,
ch 2, skip 2 dc, 1 dc in top st of turning chain.

21ST ROW: Ch 5, turn, skip the first dc, 1 dc in each of the next 4 dc, follow chart across, end
with ch 2, 1 dc in 3rd st of turning chain.

22ND ROW: Ch 3, turn, 2 dc in first space, 1 dc in next dc, follow chart across, end with 2 dc in
the turning chain space, 1 dc in the 3rd st of same turning chain. Follow chart to end of the 58th
row.

59TH ROW: Turn, a sl st in each of the first 43 sts, ch 3, 1 dc in each of the next 3 dc, follow
chart across, end with a group of 7 dc, do not work over the remaining sts. Continue to follow
chart to end of last row on chart; break off.

ARM REST

1ST ROW: Ch 111, 1 dc in the 4th st from hook, 1 dc in eacl of the next 41 sts of chain, ch 2, skip
2 sts, 1 dc in each of the next 19 sts, ch 2, skip 2 sts, 1 dc in each of the remaining 3 sts.

2ND ROW: Ch 3, tun, skip the first dc, 1 dc in each of the next 9 dc, (ch 2, skip 2 dc, 1 dc in each
of the next 10 dc) twice, ch 2, skip 2 dc, 1 dc in each of the next 4 dc (this 4 dc group forms a
block; see chart), ch 2, skip 2 dc, 1 dc in next dc (this forms a space; see chart) 2 dc in next space,
1 dc in next dc, follow chart across row working a space for each open square and a block for
each solid square on chart (4 dc worked side by side form a block, when 2 or more blocks follow
consecutively work 3 dc for each and an extra dc at the end), end row with 1 dc in top stitch of
turning chain.

3RD ROW: Ch 3, turn, skip the first dc, 1 dc in each of the next 9 dc, (ch 2, 1 dc in each of the
next 10 dc) twice, ch 2, 1 dc in next dc, follow chart across. Follow chart to end of the 17th row.
18TH ROW; Ch 5, turn, skip the first 3 dc, 1 dc in next dc, follow chart across, end with ch 2,
skip 2 dc, 1 dc in top st of turning chain.

19TH ROW: Ch 5, turn, skip the first dc, 1 dc in each of the next 4 dc, follow chart across, end
with ch 2, 1 dc in the 3rd st of turning chain.

20TH ROW: Follow chart.

21ST ROW: Ch 3, turn, 2 de in first space, 1 dc in next dc, follow chart across, end with 2 dc in
the turning chain space, 1 dc in 3rd st of same turning chain. Follow chart to end of the 58th row.

59TH ROW: Turn, a sl st in each of the first 25 sts, ch 3, 1 dc in next 3 dc, follow chart across,
end with a block, do not work over the remaining sts. Continue to follow chart to to end of last
row on chart; break off. Make a duplicate arm rest.
