MEN’S SUNDAY

July 8 2018

FOCUSING
(As soft music is played, recall the strong winds that have swept through your life. Have you become
stronger person because of these?)

APPROACHING GOD WITH OUR BURDENS

Liturgist: Remember, O Lord, what has happened to us; look and see our disgrace.
Young People: We have become orphans and fatherless; our mothers like widows.
Mothers: We must buy the water we drink; the wood can be had only at a price. We get our bread at the
risk of our lives.
Fathers: Elders are shown no respect and are gone from city gate. Young men toil at the millstone, boys
stagger under loads of wood.
All: Because of This, our hearts are faint, because of these things our eyes grow dim. Our land lies
desolate. Have you utterly rejected us? Are you angry with us beyond measure? (Lamentations 5)

AS WE SERVE..
People are drawn closer to each others in times of tragedy. Stowaway family members stand beside one
another to grieve the death of a loved one. Relatives separated by distance for a long time find
themselves in the presence of each other. A father’s hardened heart is touched by a child’s gasp of
breath. Most, if all of us would never pray for a storm to beat on us. Even Jesus asked that the cup of
suffering be taken away from him. But turbulent times have a way of strengthening our spiritual sinners
and moral fiber. When we are weakened by a tragedy. God’s grace braces us for the next one.
