1. The Schools Division Office of Bataan and Bataan Association of Mathematics Teachers
will be conducting the 2017 Division Math Camp to be held on February 15-17, 2017 at
Dinalupihan Sports Complex.
2. This activity aims to:
a. develop critical thinking to solve practical problems thru mathematical investigation;
b. provide learners opportunities for leadership and cooperative undertakings;
c. develop a self-sustaining learning communities thru fun-filled activities;
d. prepare learners for incoming higher level completion;
e. enhance financial literacy to teacher trainers, and
f. furnish opportunities to establish fellowship and understanding of diversities.
3. Participants to this activity are elementary, junior and senior high school pupils/students
from public and private schools in the Division of Bataan. They must have good moral
character and stamina to participate in outdoor activities.
4. Sub-Camps are composed of public and private schools in each district.
5. Parent’s permit must be secured using the attached template.
6. Grades 1-3 pupils can only participate in Deped-Metrobank-MTAP Math Challenge on the
2nd day.
7. Live-in Grades 4-11 participants and coaches may pitch tents in the designated areas.
8. Breakdown of number of participants for each event is found in Enclosure No. 1.
9. Expenses for foods, transportation and other incidental of participants shall be charged to
Local School Board Fund, MOOE and/or other local funds available.
10. Enclosure No. 2 contains Matrix of Activities.
11. Enclosure No. 3 contains Mechanics of Activities.
12. Immediate and wide dissemination of this Memorandum is enjoined.

MATHLECTICS
The Amazing Race is a game in which teams compete in order to win the race. For this event, teams
of two will consist of a teams of students competing against teams. Teams will receive an initial question. The
question will be the same for all teams. The answer to the question will take the teams to the next question
(check point). The first team to complete all check points (answer all questions correctly) wins.
Materials:
 manila envelopes, to be used to hold questions at each check point
 Pencils for each team to use to answer questions (questions can be answered on the paper provided).
Directions and Rules (MECHANICS):
 Each team will receive an envelope with a question/challenge. The members of the teams will answer the
question.
 The answer will indicate which check point the teams will travel to next (i.e. the answer from the previous
question will be labeled on the envelope for the next question).
 Teams will move from question to question as they come up with correct answers.
Occasionally, an envelope will contain a road block. A road block will be a physical challenge that a team must
perform in order to receive the next clue. Road blocks will include:

write the numbers 1-30 on paper plates with a marker to serve as the board game squares
 used the die we had made from a box for our game.
 each paper plate has question hidden at the back of it.
 set up a life size game board by making a path out of the plates.
 The kids took rolling the die and moving themselves around the board once they
answer the question correctly.
 if the team fail to answer the question within 2 minutes, they will go 5 steps down

MECHANICS FOR MATH PUZZLE

1. Each team has to solve first the illustration puzzle to go Tangram World.
2. The team has to complete 5 puzzles one at a time.
3. To validate the answer, a Groupie has to be taken with every puzzle solved.
4. The fastest groups with correct figures will be declared as winners.

 MECHANICS FOR SUDOKU

 1. The elimination round is composed of three (3) rounds and a warm-up round.
The warm-up (2 X 2) , a conditioning period, enables the participants to earn points.
The
participants are given 115 minutes or 1 hour and 55 minutes to answer all the given
puzzles which come in ascending difficulty. The participants who have answered
correctly at least 40% of the puzzles in the 1st round can proceed to the 2nd round
(2 X 3). The participants who have answered correctly at least 6 0 % of the puzzles
in the 2nd round can proceed to the 3rd or final round (3 x 3). Thus, a participant is
considered eliminated if he/she fails to answer correctly the required percent of the
puzzles in every round.

2. In determining the 1st placer of each category, the sum of scores in every round
and warm-up round of each qualifier shall be added and ranked accordingly. 3. In
case of a tie, the technical committee will provide a Killer Sudoku to break it.

3. The technical committee reserves the right to change or improve any part of the
mechanics of the contest without prior notice to the participants for as long as the
change/s will not affect the purpose or objective of the contest.

4. In the event a situation arises not covered by any rules or mechanics of this
contest, the members of the Technical Committee shall determine the final
judgment and pronouncement.

5. The decision of the Board of Judges is final and irrevocable.

Mathletes have to choose in which Letter of Answer he will stand in line.
Be quick to solve mentally and choose where to stand after the signal.
A cut off in number of mathletes shall be imposed for every question.
Last Man Standing in the correct answer will be declared as winner.

Is an Oral Quizbee on Trivia
Matheles may earn points from Easy, Average and Difficult Rounds and Clincher if
necessary.
Contestant with the highest total score will be declared as winner.
MATH TRAIL
 A group activity with 5 members will undergo outdoor problem solving.

 Teams have 5 minutes to gather informations from every station.
 After completing the stations, they have 1 hour to solve for the problems
 Each team may bring any measuring devices and calculators.

Math Investigation for Senior High School

1. The Senior High School students, both public and private, are the participants of Math Investigation.
2. This is a team competition. The team shall be composed of 4 members.
3. Only participants who have registered are allowed to join.
4. Each team will provide its own materials ( manila paper, pentel pen, etc ) for the
preparation of the investigation.
5. Each team will be given 3 hours to do the investigation including the preparation of the
final write up for the presentation.
6. The following steps should be observed involving mathematical Investigation
a. Introduction ( getting to know the situation, formulating questions)
b. Statement of the Problem ( problem/s are clearly defined and generated from
the situation )
c. Making conjectures ( symbolising/seeing patterns/generalizing
d. Testing conjectures ( proving )
e. Justification ( extending the situation, formulating further questions )
f. Summarizing the findings
7. During the pre judging, the top five contestants ( finalist) will be identified and they will
move on the next round which is the oral presentation.
8. Only one student presenter will be allowed to present the investigation.
9. The student presenter will be given 5 – 7 minutes to present the investigation followed
by a three minute interrogation by the panel of judges. Questions will focus on the MI.
10. Each finalist will be ranked and the top three will be declared as First, Second and
Third placers, respectively.
11. The mathematical investigation will be judged according to the following criteria.
