3 BA extramural: Grammar

Course objectives
The third year course enables students to consolidate the knowledge of grammar they gained previously. It also aims to
revise and practice the points of grammar that proved problematic, and therefore can lead to potential errors. Finally, it is
meant to extend students’ repertoire of advanced structures, many of which are idiom or collocation based.

Credit requirements
 attendance (exceeding the limit of two unexcused absences or absence in at least 1/3 of the classes, even if
excused, will result in failing the course. If you miss the class it is your responsibility to find out what we did and
catch up)
 homework assignments and class participation (not completing homework assignments or classwork set by the
tutor requires passing all the discussed materials during my duty hours)
 entry quizzes (take place at the beginning of each class and cover materials discussed during the previous
meeting, including phrasal verbs and fixed phrases/idioms from V. Evans; no retakes possible thus you need to
score at least 60% from all the quizzes at the end of the course; on the whole, you are allowed to miss 2 quizzes in
the semester)
