LEARNING STANDARDS 1.3.1 Able to listen to and demonstrate understanding of oral texts by:
b)answering simple Wh- questions
OBJECTIVE By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:
1. answer the questions by matching the pictures of places and signs as well
as phrases correctly in the matching signs game
2. match the pictures of places with correct signs and write the phrases on
each signs correctly.

ACTIVITIES Pre-activity
Recall on Places in School (Year 1: Unit 17 – How do I get there?)
1. Teacher shows “Places in School” on powerpoint slides.
2. Teacher clicks on the slide one by one and asks students to name the places
in school before showing the word on the slide.
3. Teacher corrects students’ pronunciation if there is a need.
4. Teacher repeats step 1-2 for “Places in School” powerpoint slides.
While-activity
What Must We Do?
1. Teacher shows the phrases to students and say out the phrases using the
powerpoint slides.
2. Students listen to the phrases and repeat after the teacher.
3. Teacher calls the students to match the phrases to the signs already pasted
on the wall.
4. Teacher asks students activities that they can or cannot do at all the places
in school. Eg: What must you do when you see the sign?, What must you not
do when you see the sign?
5. Students respond to teacher’s questions based on the phrases that have been
introduced earlier. Eg: I must keep quiet, I must not run.

Matching Signs
1.Teacher divides the pupils into the group of five.
2.Teacher demonstrates the matching the signs game:
a. instruct all the first player of each group to come to the front of the class.
b. Show either the picture of places, the picture of signs or the phrases of signs to
pupils.
c. Teacher will asks some questions based on what are the pictures shown. Eg:
Teacher shows the pictures of sign “please queue up”and teacher asks “Where you
can find this sign in school?”.
d. Pupils need to write their answers on the board.
e. Pupils will repeat the steps until few round.
f. The group that answer correctly will get points.

Post-activity
Mix and Match
1. Teacher distributes the worksheet to students.
2. Teacher asks:
a. Look at the word canteen.
b. What signs can you find at the canteen?
c. Draw a line from the word canteen to the sign ‘please queue’.
d. Then, write ‘please queue’ under the picture.
3. If students cannot do this worksheet, provide them with Remedial
worksheet. If good students finish early, you can provide them with
Enrichment worksheet.

through slide.
3) listen and colour the animals correctly based on teacher’s instructions

1. Teacher shows powerpoint slide about animals and their youngs.
2. Teacher says out the animals and their youngs and follow by the pupils.

Listen and colour
1. Teacher demonstrates the animal and their young with the colour.
a. show the worksheet to pupils and asks, “What colour of the cow
and calf ?” ( Listen and Colour)
b. ask pupils to point out to the cow and the calf on the worksheet.
c. ask pupils to listen and then the teacher says: “Colour the cow and
calf in brown”
2. Teacher then distributes the worksheet to all the pupils.
3. Teacher gives the instructions:
a. Colour the cow and calf brown.
b. Colour the bird and nestling green.
c. Colour the duck and duckling white.
d. Colour the goat and kid grey.
