 the Tightness of Ahmed Hamdy tunnel and its inability to 80 Km
withstand heavy traffic to South Sinai and the Red Sea coast.

NAT prepared a preliminary study for the project of the

1.8 Km
Extension of Line 2 of Greater Cairo Metro (El Mounib-
Shubra Al Khiema) to Qalyoub.

The Route was chosen to be, as much as possible, Qalyub

within the Right of Way of the Egyptian National

minimize the lands expropriation in the region.

8.8 Km
This extension will be from Shubra Al Khiema station
at the east parallel to the existing railway lines till the
city of Qalyoub, The length of this Part is about 7 km. Mit Nama

of about 1.8 km to reach the intermodal station, which
means that the total length of this extension will be
about 8.8 km.

The studies for this line will cost about 25 Million EGP, Shubra El
