and prevents strokes. According from International Journal of Endocrinology, it

can also help in increasing bone density or bone strengthening.

In line with these, the researchers came up to an idea of getting the

experience of drinking beer with les alcohol content and of less cost. We come

up into the idea of Powdered Beer. Powdered Beer is a product in which a

regular liquid beer will be turned into powder and be sold per sachet. It will still

have the taste and power of a liquid beer but it would now have a less alcohol

content. This would be more beneficial in our health since in drinking this we can

intake a little less alcohol and also less cost.

Powdered Beer unlike from the usual drinking beer is much more

affordable and beneficial. Since it is in powder form, it would be cheaper than the

bottled ones and can give you the full experience of a liquid beer with less

alcohol intake. It can also be considered as a unique and new innovation in our

country since we don’t have a beer in a powder form.

In this regard, the proponents decided to conduct this study on the use of

Maltodextrin as the main ingredient in making powdered beer and its distribution

to sari-sari store in Cebu City. If this proposal will be implemented, this will

benefit the community in regulate binge drinking and reduces the alcohol content

which will be replaced by some nutritious ingredients that will help the human

body.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

The purpose of this study is to determine the feasibility of the ‘Proposed

Production of Powdered Beer and its Distribution to Sari-Sari Store’s in Mabolo,

Cebu City”. Specifically, the following queries were answered:

1. Is the proposed project feasible under each of the following aspects:

1.1 Technical

1.2 Marketing

1.3 Management

1.4 Taxation and Legal

1.5 Financing

1.6 Financial

1.7 Socioeconomic Desirability; and

1.8 Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats?

2. Based on the findings, what recommendations maybe proposed for the

project?

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

In every business endeavor, it is necessary to consider various factors for

it affects the overall success of the business. Careful examination of these

factors should be done in order to avoid any undesirable consequences that may

lead to the undoing of the business venture. Feasibility studies are done in order

to take a good look at these factors which also provides the user with such

information, the data needed for them to make necessary decisions.

The Problem and Its Scope |4

The significance of this study would not only be limited to the

determination of the viability and profitability of the proposed project, but also in

the identification of its influence to the different sectors.

Prospective Implementers

This study would provide vital information to the implementers that would

be useful for him in accessing the risks and rewards involve in this project. It can

be the basis for him in making the decision whether or not the project is worthy to

be pursued.

Government

This study would provide pertinent information needed by the

government, particularly the awareness about these new ventures can be used

as a model by the Department of Trade and Industry in their efforts to promote

small scale enterprises which can boost the economy.

Customers

This study would promote awareness among the consumers of the

Powdered Beer. The project, if implemented, would also provide the consumers

a different variety as compared to the usual, “bottled and canned beer” readily

available in the market.

Proponents

This study served as an avenue for the students to explore and gain a

better understanding of the business world. It enlightened them on how the

theories learned from the classrooms would be put into practice. It had exposed

them to different people in various situations that would be very useful when they

enter in the real world.

Financial Institutions

This project would provide vital information to financial institutions from

whom financial assistance may be requested for the implementation of these

business endeavor. It would serve as the basis whether or not such request

would be granted.

Academe

This study would serve as a benchmark for the professors in their

evaluation on how appropriate the students had applied their theoretical

knowledge acquired from the portals of their classroom to different practical

scenarios.

Suppliers

This study would provide the suppliers of raw materials, tools, and

equipment the necessary data for them to assess whether they would be able to

cater the needs of the business.

Future Researchers

This study would serve as a guide to future researchers as to

technicalities of conducting a study. Some data from these studies may also be

the basis to confirm or invalidate the findings of other related design.

RESEARCH DESIGN

A research design is a detailed outline of how an investigation will take

place. It refers to the overall strategy that you will choose to integrate the

different components of the study in a coherent and logical way where you are

ensuring you will effectively address the research problem. It includes how the

data is collected, what instruments will be employed, how the instruments will be

used and the intended means for analyzing data collected. Also is a tool to

minimize misstatements of information.

Research Environment

Research environment refers to the area within the scope of the survey

conducted to determine the marketability of the proposed project. It is the

boundary or limit to where the proponents conduct their survey, as a way of

accumulating data and transforming such data into useful information.

In line with the proposed project, the proponents have to conduct their

survey to sari-sari stores in Mabolo, Cebu City. They will serve as the target

market since most of them sell beverages which include beers.

Research Methodology and Instruments

The study used descriptive research by identifying the population

according to the characteristics of the target market chosen by the researchers.

The descriptive survey method is the method to be used in this study whereby

respondents would answer through group-made questionnaires to gather

pertinent information. Since the total population is not that big, the entire
The Problem and Its Scope |7

population was surveyed. The data collected were classified, tabulated, analyzed,

and interpreted to determine the viability of the proposed product in the market.

Research Procedure

The questionnaire formulated by the group was presented to the person

acknowledgeable about the products of the company as well as in the selling of

these products. This feasibility has been organized through quantitative data

gathering, as well as previous feasibility studies and online references.

The gathered information was then analyzed according to their use and

classified according to the aspects of the study. This information was used to

forecast the profitability of the business as well as in creating estimates for its

operation.

Limitation of the Study

In the course of conducting the feasibility study, obtaining precise, error-

free information from the entire population is not that easy. The lack of sufficient

monetary resources, the use of estimates and especially the time constraints are

just some of the factors that hindered the researchers in conducting the study.

The following are some of the instances that the researchers considered being

limitations of the study.

 Some of the owners of the sari-sari store did not attempt to answer the

questionnaires because they are afraid to expose their store or slightly

does not believe our reason for conducting the survey.

 The actual sample of the product was not yet made available upon

conducting the survey.

The Problem and Its Scope |8

 Other did not have time to answer since some of them are too busy in

doing things in their store.

 During the determination of the population of the target market, some sari-

sari stores may not have been identified by the researchers.

 Information with regards to the delivery arrangements including the

additional costs and minimum number of packs that should be bought to

avail of the service is not yet available upon conducting the survey. Thus,

it might have affected the respondent’s preferred mode of acquisition.
