MAINTENANCE PROCEDURE FOR RUBBER WHEEL

STOPPER

SCOPE :

The yellow Colour Rubber in the Infinity Wheel Stopper is subject to getting Dirty or Discolouring over
a period of time depending on the conditions of installation. This method statement is describes the
regular maintenance schedule for Infinity Wheel stopper. This scope of work shall include regular
maintenance and painting system of Yellow colour parts.

TOOLS:

Road marking Paint - White, Road Marking Paint – Yellow, Fine Emery, Soap Solution ( not detergent)
Cleaning Cloth, Roller Brush, Paint Brush etc.
SAFETY
Personnel Protective Equipment such as Respiratory mash, Safety Shoes, Face mash Hard Hat etc. shall
be worn at the time of painting.
Proper access to the work area shall be maintained through out the working period.

PROCEDURE :

REGULAR MAINTENANCE

The wheel stopper to be cleaned with water at regular intervals to wash out any dirt on the wheel
stoppers and to prevent any spilled chemicals or petrol staying on the Rubber and reacting with the
Rubber with time.
No cleaning Solvent is to be used when cleaning the Infinity Wheel stopper as they may react with
Rubber.
Inspect the condition of Wheel stopper Rubber surface and fixing condition and fixing Bolt.
If required tighten the Bolt or change new one where ever necessary.
When Yellow Colour fades or discolours, the yellow strip is to be repainted using road marking paint.
PAINTING PROCEDURE

Prepare surfaces to be painted.

Remove effervescence, chalk, dust, dirt, grease, oil and release agent.
Roughen the surface with fine emery paper to remove glaze.
Care fully mix and prepare paint materials in accordance with manufacture direction.
Use suitable thinner approved by Paint manufacture and only with in recommended limits.
Using Roller Brush, a single coating of white colour road marking paint is applied on to the yellow
rubber surface evenly.
While painting adjacent areas and installations shall be protected by using of masking tape or other
approved precautionary measures.
When the white colour paint is dried, a coat of Yellow Color road marking paint is applied evenly on the
top of the white surfaces.
When the single coat of Yellow Paint is dried, another final coat is applied of Yellow Road Marking
Paint and let to dry.

Apply paint to an even and fine texture, leave no evidence of rolling such as laps, irregularity in texture,
skid marks.
Apply additional coat where under coats, stain or other condition show in final coat.

PRECAUTIONS:

Maintain containers used in mixing and application of paint in a clean condition, free from foreign
materials and residue.
Stir the paint before application to produce the mixer uniform density, stir as required during
application. Do not stir surface film in to materials. Remove film and if necessary, strain materials before
using.
Don’t paint over dirt, rust, scale, grease, moisture.
Don’t apply succeeding coats until the previous coat has dried properly.
