BRUNAI DARUSSALAM
Brunei Darussalam is a small country located in Southeast Asia. Located on
the northern island of Borneo / Kalimantan and is bordered by Malaysia. Brunei
consists of two parts separated by the Malaysian mainland. The country is famous for
its prosperity and firmness in implementing the Islamic Shari'a, both in government
and social life.
Borneo name given by the English under the name of this region in the past because
the Europeans to trade through the port in Brunei as the largest commercial airports
on the island.
Under Brunei's 1959 constitution, His Majesty Paduka Seri Baginda Sultan
Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah is the head of state with full executive
authority, including emergency powers, since 1962.
The Sultan's role is enshrined in the national ideology known as Melayu
Islam Beraja(MIB), or Malay Muslim Monarchy. The country has been under
hypothetical martial law since Brunei Revolt of 1962.
The media are extremely pro-government and the Royal family retains a
venerated status within the country.
Brunei culture as similar to Malay culture, with strong influences from
Hinduism and Islam, but look more conservative than Malaysia. Sales and use of
alcohol are forbidden, by an outsider and non-Muslims allowed to bring in 12 beers
and two bottles of alcoholic beverages every time they enter this country. After the
entry ban in the early 1990s, all pubs and nightclubs were forced to close.
MY MIND
Brunei Darussalam is one of the countries rich of oil mining. This country has
a different habit with countries such as Indonesia despite having the same culture is
Malay culture, because this country is a country rich and prosperous. These countries
ban alcohol, this is a rare thing, because as a country where rich people are, usually
they like to get drunk, and other bad things.
