ACTIVITY COST ESTIMATE

1. DESCRIPTION OF PROCESS OUTPUT

The Activity Cost Estimate provide information about the required cost of resources to complete
project work, including direct costs (labor, equipment, supplies, services, facilities, and materials),
indirect costs and reserve. Appendage – A.

2. CONTINGENCY RESERVES
Define if development estimates will include contingency reserve to account for risks related to
uncertainty.

3. TOOLS AND TECHINIQUES

The techniques most useful to estimate activity cost are parametric, analogous and three points.
Appendage – B.
a. Parametric Estimation: is used as reference unit costs of some engineering database.
b. Analogous Estimation: estimate made by comparing the current work with a similar past work.
The similarity between the works is fundamental for a good estimate.
c. Three Points Estimation: used to consider project uncertainties. For this, it establishes three
scenarios (optimistic, pessimistic and more probable) and uses formulas of distribution, being the
most used to Beta.
d. Bottom-up Estimation: When an activity cannot be estimated with confidence, the work within
activity is decomposed further. These estimates are then aggregated into a total cost for each of
activity (summarized or rolled up to higher level).

4. REVIEW PROCESS AND FREQUENCY

Describe how the Activity Cost Estimate will be reviewed:
- Which tools and techniques will be used?
- What is the frequency of the review?
- What will be covered in the project reviews?

5. ADMINISTRATION OF THE ACTIVITY COST ESTIMATE

Define those responsible for the Activity Cost Estimate.

6. REVISION HISTORY
