3.14 ALL Perform a Detailed Visual Inspection (DVI) (Task 321374-5F-1) 11,
(aircraft weight-on-wheels) of the Rear 16
Chrome Area on the LH and RH MLG Sliding
Tubes to ensure that they are free from cracks
IAW procedure bellow.
PROCEDURE
PREPARATION (a) Make sure that the safety devices are installed on the LH and RH MLG (Refer to AMM Task
32-00-00-481-001).
(b) Use Solvent General Purpose (11-026) and a Lint-Free Cotton Cloth (19-003) to clean the
inspection areas (Refer to Figure 1) on the rear faces of the LH and RH MLG Sliding Tubes.
DVI NOTE:
The aircraft should be as light as possible to allow maximum access to the Sliding Tube. If
necessary use headlight for the inspection.
(a) Do a DVI in the area shown to look for cracks, if necessary use x10 magnification if a crack is
suspected.
Cracks found
YES NO
Zone: 731
Zone: 741
If cracks found report to Continuing Airworthiness Division of FLY ONE.
(b) Inspect the area also for bronze particles from the Lower Bearing that may attach to the
chrome surface of the Sliding Tube.
Bronze deposits found
YES NO
Zone: 731
Zone: 741
If bronze deposits found:
 Report to Continuing Airworthiness Division of FLY ONE.
 If necessary, use Scotch Brite Pads (19-011) to remove the bronze particles.
 Record finding in TLB part I and II and do the full MPI (weight-off wheels) within 30
days from the date of the findings.
(c) Inspect the area also for chrome loss.
Chrome loss found
YES NO
Zone: 731
Zone: 741
If chrome loss found report to Continuing Airworthiness Division of FLY ONE.
LUBRICATION (a) Lubricate the greasers from 1 thru 3 on the MLG Gland Housing, use Synthetic hydrocarbon
grease (04-022). Do this until new grease comes out around the sliding tube! Use hand
operating equipment only. Due to the main landing gear design, the new grease will more
easily extrude from the front of the sliding tube than the back side!
(b) Remove the unwanted grease. Clean the greasers with a clean lint-free cloth (19-003) and
cleaning agents (11-026).
(c) Make sure that the greaser ball has seated correctly.
